Dear City Council,

Development is planned for every corner of Asheville, and our precious trees are under more pressure than ever.

Asheville needs an urban forest master plan now to protect and restore our neighborhood trees.

In its Municipal Climate Action Plan, the City set the goal to utilize urban forestry practices on city land in priority neighborhoods.

An urban forest master plan will help:

  • Increase the impact of urban forestry projects in areas of greatest need.
  • Identify suitable sites for tree planting.
  • Establish tree planting standards for city land.

…But not without funding!

Please fund the creation of an urban forest master plan in this year’s budget.

Sincerely,
