Dear Valued AUC Member,
UPDATE: AUC will celebrate 5/22 with unorganized pick-up at Memorial from 6-8pm and then head over to Twin Leaf at 8:30pm to celebrate the Spring Season! There will be tasty food and drink from our sponsors Neo Burrito and Twin Leaf Brewery
The AUC Board needs your help. Asheville Parks and Rec has canceled your games to alleviate traffic congestion around the surrounding neighborhoods during McCormick Field use. AUC summer offerings are also compromised and if this deal stands, 18 out of 36 dates will be spread across Memorial, JBL, BCSP, Carrier Park, and UNCA. With your help the AUC Board thinks we can change that!
How you might ask? By a night of community action, socializing, and other such games!
Please invite any and all who are negatively affected by Parks and Rec’s decision to come and request to City Council and Debra Campbell to reverse their Parks and Rec’s Decision.
We hope to see you there!
Debra Campbell
Phone: (828) 259-5604
Email: [email protected]
She needs to hear from YOU if you would like AUC’s voice to be at the table when decisions are taking place.
Please check back for updates about this event and contact Debra Campbell.

Join us for a local pint night celebrating Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and benefitting land and water conservation!
To support SAHC with Pints for Nonprofits, The Casual Pint will donate $1 for each pint of Appalachia Session IPA sold that day.
Wicked Weed Brewing has crafted a special brew to support conservation of mountains, forests, farms, streams, and rivers across Western North Carolina and East Tennessee. For more than 45 years, SAHC has worked to protect scenic views, habitat for rare and endangered native species, and places for people to hike, camp, fish, bike, and more. Donations will support protection of headwater streams that flow into the French Broad, Catawba and Broad River basins, as well as productive family farms, wildlife corridors adjoining the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and special places for outdoor recreation. SAHC has helped protect lands added into Cherokee and Pisgah National Forests as well as state parks, game lands and natural areas, and we work with a variety of private and public agency partners across the region to help manage habitat on protected lands.
Isis Music Hall kicks off the summer season with free outdoor concerts in West Asheville every Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
Concerts on the Isis Music Hall lawn bring the community center stage for evenings filled with free music and fun festivities throughout the summer from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
“It’s just going to be a great vibe for the community and welcoming for our visitors,”” said Lillianna Woody, Isis Music Hall owner. “It’s the perfect way to unwind from the day full of responsibilities and just have fun.”
From bluegrass to blues, jazz and a few surprises in between, the summer series brings an array of local acts to the stage to satisfy nearly any song-filled soul.
“It’s really refreshing for me as a musician to be able to play in a family-friendly environment,” said breakout artist Whitney Moore, of Queen Bee & The Honeylovers. “I love the laid back community vibe of it and that people can stroll down Haywood and just happen by some great live music. It’s also early in the evening which gives families a great opportunity to see live music.”
Cold brews, food, wine and cocktails are available for purchase. Come, kick off your heels and relax on the patio or spread out a blanket and hang out on the lawn to enjoy free music for the evening.
No reservations needed, just stop by and enjoy! Weather permitting, of course. Alcohol is permitted on the lawn, but must be purchased from Isis Music Hall.
Check their website at isiaasheville.com for a full schedule.
We will be in the meeting room in the downstairs of Pack Memorial Library (next to the auditorium).
Our agenda includes debriefing our recent forum on the Tourism Development Authority, including next steps for that issue, as well as discussing the forces behind the Flat Iron Building’s proposed renovation into a hotel. We will also be discussing future public events and service projects.
Hope to see you there!
