Asheville teams have played under the Tourists moniker in different leagues and classifications for decades, with the earliest dating to 1897. The current team has played continuously in what is now known as the South Atlantic League since 1976. They have won three league championships, first in 1984 and most recently in 2014. Previous Tourists teams won a total of four additional championships.
The Tourists play home games at McCormick Field. The park opened in 1924, renovated in 1959, and renovated again for the 1992 season. McCormick Field seats 4,000 fans, and is notable for the scoreboard which reads “Visitors” in the guest slot and “Tourists” in the home slot

On May 4th and 5th Asheville Butoh Collective presents Dirt, dreams and death, featuring solo works by ABC’s Jenni Cockrell, Julie Gillum and Constance Humphries.
Mound is an archetypal journey into feminine rites of passage, created and performed by Julie B. Gillum. Composer Ivan Seng will provide novel aurowave companionship in the form of an original soundscape for the piece.

Jenni Cockrell/strange daughters butoh premieres arterial spirits, a reimagining of the character of Lady Macbeth exploring power, paradox, memory, love and loss.

Beginner’s workshop lesson at 7:30 P.M., then 8-11 P.M. Contra Dance with Country Waltzing at the break and the final dance. This is a partner dance but it’s not necessary to come with a partner. We have different live bands and callers.

Gangsters and gamblers, missionaries and showgirls are in town and on the Main Stage at Hendersonville Community Theatre, May 18th through June 3rd. Yes, it’s Guys and Dolls – Broadway’s perfect musical comedy about gambling men and the women who long to tame them! Set against the backdrop of 1940s New York City, Guys and Dolls features one of the greatest musical scores in the history of American theatre, with hits that include: “I’ve Never Been in Love Before,” “Take Back Your Mink” and “Luck, Be a Lady.”
