More of these individuals are turning to yoga to help manage their symptoms. Whether it’s chronic low back pain, fibromyalgia, or headaches, the experience of pain can profoundly impact quality of life. Yoga and related practices offer amazing tools to address these issues. Offering the latest evidence based interventions from fields such as yoga, mindfulness, physical therapy, acupressure, nutrition, and health psychology, this weekend will radically expand your ability to manage chronic pain. Whether you or a family member suffers from chronic pain or you’d like to expand your skill set in helping these individuals, this weekend promises to be an endeavor into self-care that is well worth your time.

For three days only Sow True Seed will be hosting a bare root plant sale at 243 Haywood St. We’ll have a great range of woodland medicinals, berry bushes and small pollinator trees to help kick start your perennial gardens this year.
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Sow True Seed has launched a non-profit foundation called The Utopian Seed Project. The purpose of The Utopian Seed Project is to experiment, educate and celebrate diversity in food and farming in order to improve food security and mitigate climate change through a diverse and regenerative food system.
We’ll be sharing more information about this organization as the year progress, but what you need to know right now is that ALL of the profits from this bare root plant sale will go directly to supporting The Utopian Seed Project.
Be sure to SAVE the DATE and SHARE with FRIENDS, because you don’t want to miss out on this once a year event! RSVP’ing via Eventbrite is optional, but does help us get prepared for the event.

We, the youth of America, are striking because decades of inaction has left us with just 11 years (or less) to solve the climate crisis. We are striking because the necessary action to achieve the common-sense and vital goal of fighting climate change is not being prioritized. We are striking because marginalized communities across our nation —especially indigenous, black, and low income communities— are already disproportionately impacted by climate change, yet, few people in positions of power have acknowledged this reality, and even fewer have begun to confront it appropriately.
We are at a turning point in history. Our futures are at stake. We call for radical legislative action to combat climate change and its countless detrimental effects on the American people. We are striking for the Green New Deal, a fair and just transition to decarbonize the US economy, and other legislative action that combats the effects of climate change. We stand in solidarity with Greta Thunberg and all youth strikers worldwide as we demand action on this issue.
Join us at Pritchard Park on March 15th for a rally, speakers, and a call to action. Rally will begin at 4:30.

Classic Maya civilization developed between CE 250-900 in Central America and is most famous for its large cities now buried under the tropical forest and its complex hieroglyphic writing system. Both of these cultural traits, attributable to elite material culture, can be traced to enduring forms of centralized governance – royal courts – who sponsored construction projects and recorded their history on stone monuments. This talk investigates how Classic Maya royals managed to establish and maintain their power through an evolving political apparatus. This discussion highlights changing architectural and communicational technologies which allowed the numerous Classic Maya kingdoms to endure for centuries. In the absence of modern communicational technologies, how did Classic Maya royals maintain their political networks? How did they secure the fealty of allies and vassals? How did they establish their sovereignty with the general population? The answer to these questions address the design of regal palaces, political stages, and politically-charged art programs, along with feasting and scribal practices.

Join Tammy for a dynamic weekend of Vinyasa, meditation, pranayama and lecture/discussion as we explore the practices that create a life that works. Throughout this weekend, we will dive into the tools of yoga that allow us to stay connected to the truth of who we are as we practice new ways of being in the world.
The yoga will be a synergy of the freedom of a powerful Vinyasa class and the structural integrity of yoga’s therapeutic alignment principles.
The intensive is intentionally challenging, but open to all who wish to explore yoga as an evolutionary journey. The only ‘requirement’ is that you show up, do your best and let your best be good enough.
The sessions are intended as a whole weekend workshop, but the sessions may be taken individually.
Each session qualifies for Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Requirements.

TAMMY:
Tammy Cervantes is known as a pioneer of yoga in Cozumel, Mexico. With over 16 years’ experience teaching, and her fluency in the Spanish language she has taught in diverse venues and communities both in the U.S. and Mexico. Her students have included professional athletes, performance artists, the physically and mentally challenged, and she has especially enjoyed giving back to the community by making classes available to people who might otherwise not be able to participate. She is especially committed to her work with people in recovery from addictions, and has been blessed in assisting in the organization of the Yoga + Meditation For Recovery Conference at Esalen Institute for 8 years. She delights in offering yoga teacher trainings, and leading a vast array of retreats and workshops. Tammy’s teaching is inspired by her deep desire to assist others in cultivating present-moment awareness: she leads by living the principles of facing life bravely, by acknowledging, honoring and integrating our experiences both joyful and painful. Tammy believes that sharing this with others is her most challenging, courageous and meaningful work in life.
