Drunken Prayer’s Asheville release party for the new album, CORDELIA ELSEWHERE @ The Mothlight!
Opening the show is CATHERINE IRWIN (Thrill Jockey Records). As Freakwater, Catherine and Janet Bean virtually paved the way for what is now known as Alt-Country.
Irwin’s songs have been covered by artists including Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, Califone and Jolie Holland. Neko covered Catherine’s “Hex” on The Tigers Have Spoken, and “Dusty Groove” is the opening track on Kelly Hogan’s major label debut.
“The music is on Cordelia, Elsewhere is a direct and maverick descendant of outlaw country. These are stories of superstition, civil war and ‘triple stacks blocking out the sun’, songs bearing witness to life on frighteningly shaky ground.”
Glide Magazine
This is the third and last of the CORDELIA ELSEWHERE coast-to-coast pre-release parties.
Official release date: April 5th, 2019

The Hip Abduction
Sometimes inspiration strikes from the immersion of living in a far away place. The view of the ocean. The sound of a rainforest at sunrise. The smell of an open-air market. The embrace of the wild human experience. However, maybe the nostalgia for a certain place might be attributed instead to a feeling, or a time, or even a person. Sometimes, inspiration stems from a place that everyone can relate to, but maybe no one’s actually been. This is the music of The Hip Abduction, the vibrant St. Petersburg, FL-based collective that formed over a mutual appreciation for West African and early Jamaican reggae/dub music.
Opening the night will be The Orange Constant, a 5 piece group hailing from Athens, GA. TOC is known for their jam-rock hybrid sound and an electric live show.

Hey, did you know Asheville’s very own Travers Brothership is heading overseas in February? Well, now you do and now you can join us at Asheville Music Hall for their Homecoming Party. No doubt they will have some great stories to tell!
Travers Brothership
“Travers Brothership, is captivating audiences across the US.” – Relix Magazine
Twin brothers Eric and Kyle Travers have been making music and stunning audiences since they started playing music together at 7 years old. In 2012 the brothers formed their latest project, Travers Brothership, a Soul/Funk/Rock/Jam ensemble based out of Asheville, NC with Ian McIsaac on keys and percussion. There is a reason Travers Brothership stands out among most acts on the scene today, they care to make each concert a unique and unforgettable experience. Utilizing the band’s unmatched live energy, instrumental prowess, and 3-part harmonies; they create a live atmosphere that transforms an audience into a community. A Travers Brothership concert is best described as a wild block party, and this is a party you don’t wanna miss. Following the success of the “I Don’t Mind EP” the band began touring nationally in 2013 and has since performed 400+ concerts across the United States. The band has shared the stage with many accomplished acts such as: Charles Bradley, Taj Mahal, Moe, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Blues Traveler, Robert Randolph, Leftover Salmon, Trombone Shorty, The Marcus King Band, Dr. John, and many more.
In 2014, Josh Clark (Bass & Vocals) climbed aboard Travers Brothership. This lineup change finalized the current roster of the band, enabling them to perform the 3-part harmonies that define their current sound. Over the course of two national tours the band began work with Grammy award winning producer, Juan “Pericles” Covaz, and Grammy nominated engineer, Matt Williams. Following recording sessions at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL and The Eagle Room in Asheville, NC the band’s first album “A Way To Survive” was complete. “A Way To Survive” was released in 2016 to critical acclaim and outstanding reviews. The album has won numerous awards including “Best Studio Album of 2016” at Homegrown Music Network, and has received airplay on radio stations throughout the U.S. and beyond. The band has won numerous other awards including: Winner in Raleigh NC’s Band Together Competition in 2017 and placing runner up in Floydfest’s On-The Rise Competition in 2018.
Travers Brothership just completed work on their sophomore LP, “Let The World Decide” at Echo Mountain Recording Studio’s and The Eagle Room in Asheville, NC. The album is due out on December 8th 2018.
In January of 2019 the band will embark on their first tour of Europe, and then return to the US to tour in support of “Let The World Decide” for the remainder of 2019.

Three Star Revival
Three Star Revival was founded by frontman Ben Gaines and lead guitarist Cameron Moore in 2015. Gaines’ gifts as a vocalist and songwriter had already earned him a local following in Knoxville, but things really took off when he met his collaborative partner in Moore. Moore is a veritable guitar prodigy, and a Memphis native who was raised on classic Stax records, and the blues and jazz scene still vibrant in his hometown. After jamming for a few sessions on some more folky and country tunes, Gaines and Moore began to rapidly expand their musical horizons, going electric and incorporating sounds from across the Americana landscape and beyond with forays into funk, soul, r&b, and jazz. Initially playing with a rotating cast of Knoxville musicians, Gaines and Moore solidified their touring lineup with keys player Gregory Walton, bassist Tyler Reddick, and drummer Bo Kitzman. The quintet sprang forth from East Tennessee with an exhilarating live show that always keeps the listener engaged with meaningful lyrics, strong songwriting, and ridiculous improvisational jams from the talented 5 piece group. Three Star Revival is rapidly growing around Tennessee and the Southeast, with a heavy touring schedule and new music on the horizon, this group has only begun to plant its roots in the musical landscape.
