Please come and support each of our graduating veteran and military students through this tradition of presenting them with a red, white, and blue honor cord to be worn at graduation. This is a small token of our high regard for our military students and a time to offer them our gratitude for all of their accomplishments. The event, held in the Grotto, will have a reception after the ceremony at which catered food will be provided.

Align + Flow focuses on developing a better sense of awareness, balance, and symmetry within the body through the explanation and practice of proper alignment. The class moves through basic postures, taking the time to make self adjustments before moving into a slow, gentle flow. Align + Flow is also an excellent crossover class for dancers!

As we know all too well gun violence acutely affects our schools so we’ll be discussing recruiting new members from all area schools. Cassana Monje, single mom, singer in Phuncle Sam and just a plain awesome person, has experienced a medical crisis which landed her in the hospital for five days. She has no insurance. Cass supports her young son, Aza and herself by cleaning houses. As a community we want to support her the best we can at this time.

Lake Julian Festival of Lights has become a tradition for many mountain families and visitors. The driving-only tour includes thousands of dazzling lights and displays placed along a magical journey on the road circling Lake Julian Park.
Lake Julian Festival of Lights takes place nightly from December 2-23. Want to experience the show by foot? Lights by the Lake Stroll Night is on Saturday, December 1. Please check our Facebook event page for information on any closings due to winter weather.
Tickets are $10 at the gate ($8 in advance) for a standard passenger car or van. A portion of the proceeds benefit Buncombe County Special Olympics.

Learn how to create your own personalized blend for what ails you! In this class, we will discuss blends and herbal pairings that you can try at home to add to your own personalized apothecary. Together we will create a special blend including seasonal ingredients and herbs that can keep your immunity fortified during the frantic holiday season. Plus, you will go home with your own 4oz bottle of fire cider. Come prepared to sample some delicious fire cider blends and be inspired so you can go home and blend your own fiery herbal concoction for you and your family. Lori Jenkins is a community herbalist and owner of Sister of Mother Earth Apothecary. She also serves on the Board for the Mars Hill Farmers and Artisans Market in Madison County. She concocts unique fire cider blends that use local ingredients and foraged plant allies from the mountains of North Carolina, empowering folks to craft their own wild medicine while supporting local farmers and growers. Currently a student of Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine and enrolled in Rosemary Gladstar’s The Science and Art of Herbalism Course, she brings a bit of wild medicine to the table and her love of all things that grow. Creating kitchen magic is what she loves best.

The French Broad Valley Music Association jam session is focused on regional fiddle tunes and songs. Carol Rifkin and John Mitchell cohost weekly, bring an instrument to play or just enjoy the music, its free, kid friendly, donations encouraged. Key Players are intermediate to advanced but beginners are most welcome and encouraged to attend to listen, learn/quietly play along. More experienced players sit in the inner circle and take turns choosing fiddle tunes or songs. Guests, families and kids are invited to listen and often sing along. This style of community play has been used to entertain and pass down music to kids for generations.

Wednesday nights are for Themed Trivia! Every Wednesday will be a new themed trivia night.
Teams can be up to six people, no phones, no yelling out of answers. There will be several rounds of questions, each a different category based on the night’s theme. There will also be a “Very Hard Questions” round, in which the players on the winning team will all get a free beer.
