Vision Boards are a great way to set your intentions for the New Year, while having a lot of fun! Chris Butterworth will lead us through a series of exercises to help us hone in on what we really want to achieve in the coming year, and then guide us as we create a customized board to help us bring those intentions to life. A wonderful activity for all ages…no experience required!
All materials will be provided to create a 12×12 Vision Board suitable for framing. If you have something (images or text, for example) that is meaningful to you, please feel free to bring it along. You can use it for inspiration, or include it on your board!
“Creating a [piece of art] that displays what you want actually does bring it to life. What we focus on expands. When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day. Visualization works!” —Huffington Post, 1.12.15

Melissa Reaves with special guest William Trentini .
Melissa’s avant-garde, fire driven’ rock-n-roll approach is truly a unique experience. An incredible master of improv, she deconstructs the blues, pushes jazz to the outer limits and burns through rock-n-roll.
Melissa Reaves is known to audiences throughout the US and Europe for her deconstructionist approach to rock-n-roll. Reaves has amassed a word-of-mouth following most notably for her experimental guitar work but also for her propensity towards spontaneity and seamless improvisation during live performance. She deconstructs the blues, pushes jazz to the outer limits and burns through rock-n-roll like the love child of Jerry Lee Lewis and the MC5. Most recently Melissa’s, “New Rock Song” was placed on the 55th GRAMMY Awards nomination ballot for Best Rock Performance.
Beech Mountain Brewing Co. Brewhouse offers an intimate setting to watch your favorite band. Watch our brewers work as you sip on a cold one. This event is FREE and tickets are not required to enter the venue. The Brewhouse is located in the resort village, adjacent to the fire pit.

Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters are on tour with their latest album, a self-titled disc released June 9, 2017 on Organic Records. Lyrically driven, the songs of Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters blend the band’s old-school country roots attitude with their shared influences of rock and folk. Amanda says of the album, “I think it’s just about life and all that that entails. Including but not limited to death, strangers, birthdays, money, leaving, arriving, seasons, corruption, and love.”
“This is a band that does everything right,” says Goldmine’s Mike Greenblatt. “Platt deserves all that might come to her over this, her fifth (and best) album. Backed by pedal steel, electric guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, percussion, and vocal harmony, it’s Platt’s show as she writes, sings and co-produces. Complete with lyrics of introspection with the kind of words you can chew on long after the album ends, it also works on a lighter level by dint of the fact that it just sounds so damn good. Go as deep as you want. It’s all good, as they say.”
Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Amanda is a storyteller by nature with an incredible band backing her. Performing along with Amanda Anne Platt, The Honeycutters are Matt Smith(pedal steel and electric guitar), Rick Cooper(bass), and Evan Martin(drums).
There is an empathetic and charming wit ingrained in Amanda’s songwriting. She has a knack for accessing a deep well of emotion and applying it to her story-telling, whether she is writing from her own experiences or immersing herself into the melody of emotions in another person’s life.
“She’s soothing (even in the hurtin’ songs) and sobering (except for the drinkin’ songs) and nuanced in a way that I think tops even those rather famous ladies of the moment named Margo and Kacey… I’d be hard pressed to find a finer string of recordings from any band working in the classic country/mountain tradition in these last five years,” writes Music City Roots’ Craig Havighurst.
A homegrown entity, the band is critically acclaimed locally, regionally, nationally, as well as overseas. Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters’ placed #2 (sandwiched between Jason Isbell and Gregg Allman) in their regional radio station WNCW’s year end listeners poll for 2017! The station’s Music Director Martin Anderson said to No Depression, “Amanda Platt writes songs on par with Lucinda, Isbell, Lauderdale, Hank Sr. In my opinion, anyway.”
After a phenomenal response in 2017, the band went on their second extensive tour of the UK this summer which also included shows in Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The UK’s American Roots’ Magazine Mike Morrison writes, “This is a band whose back catalogue is a match for anyone’s and yet still they’re improving. Modern country music really doesn’t get much better than the highly individual style of Amanda Anne Platt and the Honeycutters.”
Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters recently received a shout out from Fodor’s Travel Magazine in a write-up about the band’s hometown of Asheville, NC, and a couple of years back they were also featured on XPN World Cafe’s Sense of Place series. Their music also placed into the Americana Music Association Year End Top 100 list of Americana Airplay for the second year in a row!
Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters is the group’s third release on Organic Records, and fifth album. Assembling the same the same team as 2016’s On The Ropes, Balsam Range’s Tim Surrett steps in for the second time to co-produce this album along with Amanda. Its thirteen tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered by Scott Barnett at Crossroads Studios in Arden, NC near the band’s hometown of Asheville.
“Amanda is so good it’s ridiculous. I don’t even know what words to use. Her singing, songwriting and presence is unmatched in Americana, Country, Pop… Simply breathtaking,” says Saul Davis: producer (Percy Sledge), manager (Gene Clark, Carla Olson, Phil Seymour).

After mesmerizing a crowd of unsuspecting Radiohead fans at an OK Computer tribute show last fall, frontman Jeff Thompson and his all-star band of Asheville music veterans knew they were onto something. What was intended to be a one-off homage to the greatest rock record of all time quickly developed into a permanent ensemble. Now, the five-piece is dedicated to mastering even Radiohead’s most complex arrangements, one album at a time.

Raelyn Nelson Band at The Grey Eagle
As an emerging country artist in Nashville, history suggests that the quickest path to success is somehow aligning oneself with one of the major publishers, producers, songwriters, labels, or managers that are the heart of Music Row. So what do you do if you are an emerging female country artist in Nashville, and also happen to be the granddaughter of musical icon, Willie Nelson?
You hook up with an independent producer and veteran of the rock/punk scene, write some songs that are part Loretta Lynn, part Cheap Trick, and form the Raelyn Nelson Band.
Raelyn Nelson has been singing since she can remember. Having been raised on a steady diet of traditional country and gospel music, a gift from her grandpa in the form of a guitar during her teenage years was the inspiration she needed to begin writing her own country and folk songs.
Looking for a place to record these songs, a mutual friend suggested JB (Jonathan Bright), a veteran of the underground rock scene and independent producer. After recording some of these early songs, they decided to try to write some things together and see what happened. The result? A completely fresh and original sound, a true hybrid referred to by some critics as “Country/Garage Rock.”
When they aren’t recording their songs or making music videos, they are on the road taking their high energy live show to the people. Having shared the stage with such diverse musical acts as country superstar Tim McGraw, indie rock icons Drivin’ n Cryin’, and jam band supergroup Hard Working Americans, the RNB is proving that you don’t have to fit neatly into any particular “genre” to find success.
“I don’t really have any desire to be a ‘solo-artist’. Everyone in my family who plays music has always placed a lot of importance on band chemistry, on stage, off stage and in the studio. Our band can almost read each other’s minds. Why would I mess with that? We try to keep it simple: Write songs we like, record them, make a video, then go out and play them for people.”- Raelyn Nelson
