What is Raina to do when she finds that an enemy soldier has taken refuge in her room? What will her fiancée say? The plot, of course, thickens! Directed by Jim Reid and performed as Readers Theatre as a part of The Autumn Players’ Readers Theatre Showcase Series.

Wildlife Triage interns help in all aspects of operations including the full rehabilitation process, answering phone calls and emails about wildlife interactions, the daily care of injured and orphaned wildlife and their enclosures, assisting with transport, and communications with the wildlife rehabilitation network in western NC. Interns assist in facility upkeep and maintenance as needed and are provided the opportunity to experience all aspects of the non-profit if there is interest. No two days in wildlife rehabilitation are the same. Interns must be flexible, dedicated, dependable, and comfortable working in a team setting with other volunteers and communicating with the public. Interns are required to commit to a 4-5 month internship period with positions available in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Schedules are determined during each season and based on animal intake.

Children’s Center.
The 2019 recipient is WCCA’s Etowah Children’s Center which provides Head Start,
Early Head Start and NC Pre-K childcare to children 1 month old to 5 years of low
income families. Proceeds raised will help fund improvements to the 245 Brickyard Rd.,
Etowah facility including the purchase of 3 outdoor playground shade structures,
outdoor learning environment equipment and children’s books.

Each September, Historic Biltmore Village businesses and volunteers join to host Farm to Village – Dining Under the Stars in celebration of the unique history and personality of the Village community and its connection to local farms. This year’s event takes place on Thursday, September 5th at 6pm. Guests will dine under the stars at a 150’ long feasting table set in the middle of Boston Way. Cocktails begin at 6pm while guests can visit with chefs. Dinner starts at 7pm, and live music will be provided by local favorite, Texas Peat.
Proceeds will support MANNA FoodBank!

This urban scavenger hunt will take teams of four around the downtown area via a series of clues to sixteen different locations where they will be required to complete a task before receiving their next clue. Two volunteers will staff each secret location, checking teams in and out, throughout the day. These two one act plays, twinned in theme, display the struggles of sexual abuse, and the aftermath; which is healing. The stories of two different persons are speaking the truth – or a truth – their truths – about going through this harsh and mind blowing journey. This powerful show has a bold message with a light at the end of the tunnel. Truth Be Told is written and directed by Monica McDaniel.
Truth Be Told will open the 2019-20 35below season and is also the inaugural play in Asheville Community Theatre’s Artistic Horizons program, a program that gives local artists the opportunity to pursue new creative paths in the theatre.

Asheville on Bikes, the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club, and more have worked with representatives of the City of Asheville for almost 10 years to find out how many people are walking and bicycling in various locations around the city. You can help!
This year, in coordination with the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project, we will count non-motorized users of our streets at a number of specific sites from 5-7 p.m. on one of the following dates:
*Tuesday, September 10th, OR
*Wednesday, September 11th, OR
*Thursday, September 12th.
There are also a few sites available from 7-9 a.m. on those days, and a few sites that are counted on Saturday, September 15th from 9-11 a.m. Volunteer hours are extremely valuable in this effort.
