HenDough – at The Meltdown
Apr 27 @ 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Southern Appalachian Brewery

Paul and Sarah met while working as Chefs at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. When the time came to purchase a home and start a family, they immediately settled on Hendersonville. Five years later and with the addition of their one year old son Hayden, Paul and Sarah are excited to take their commitment to this community to a new level.

Having worked in upscale establishments for much of their careers, Sarah and Paul wanted their first restaurant project to be fun and approachable. HenDough aims to accomplish that while maintaining the high level of quality and hospitality that they have come to expect.

Realizing that bringing HenDough to life wouldn’t be possible without the support of the community, Paul and Sarah hope to give back through the support of local businesses and farms.

Brevard | Jumping Mini-Clinic
Apr 27 @ 1:45 pm – 4:15 pm
Oskar Blues REEB Ranch

Ninjas are coming to Brevard!

Are you ready to take your mountain biking to the next level, literally? Jumping your mountain bike is NOT as simple as Ready. Set. JUMP! Learning how to safely and successfully jump (and land) your mountain bike involves a range of key components and constantly changing variables.

Join us as we take you through a series of progressions that will help you understand all the components that come together to create a successful jump. We’ll start with basic wheel lifts, flat hops, bunny hops, and manuals and work our way up to weighting and un-weighting over a jump. From there, we’ll have an opportunity to practice on small jumps, ride multiple jumps in succession, learn the correct way to land on varied landings and more!

All training is done in a controlled environment, either on an appropriate feature (table top) on the local trails or using manufactured ramps in a grassy area. By the end of the clinic, our goal is to have you successfully clearing a 4-5 foot gap jump (approximately 2 feet in the air) and landing safely and predictably.

**Please note, requires 2 years riding experience or previous attendance at a Ninja Fundamentals Clinic, Intermediate/Advanced Clinic, Camp or Adventure.

Short Term International Student Hosting Opportunity!
Apr 27 @ 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Looking for something meaningful to get your family involved in? Maybe you’ve always wanted to travel abroad with your family, but this year the timing just doesn’t work out. Why not bring the vacation to your home, and try a little bit of cultural exchange for your family!

Visions USA runs short-term school year programs and all summer long as a home-stay program for students from Spain, Germany, China, even Cambodia, and a Summer Camp for local American students who want to join in the fun! A bit more about the program: we run an ESL immersive program in Asheville, with students visiting April 15-27th, and throughout the summer, from June 30- August 3. Our visiting students participate in English classes a few mornings a week, and explore what Asheville has to offer during the afternoons, from hiking to waterfalls, volunteering with local organizations like Manna food bank and Conserving Carolina, going to Tourist games and more. Students go on one full day excursion a week, to places such as Carowinds and White Water Rafting on the Pigeon River. The goal is to get a fully comprehensive experience of what Asheville has to offer, from exploring and enjoying our amazing local wilderness, engaging in typical team-building American camp games and activities, and giving back to the community through service. It is truly a transformative opportunity for visiting and native students alike.
