Set in the mid-twentieth century English projects, witness a young couple struggle through the issues that seem all too familiar today: employment, finances, class, education, love, loss, and all the complications that come with it. Life leads them through its ups and downs, but will they still be able to find each other in the end?
Jesus Christ Superstar is an iconic musical phenomenon with a worldwide fan base.
In celebration of its 50th Anniversary, a new mesmerizing production comes to North America. Originally staged by London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and helmed by the acclaimed director Timothy Sheader (Crazy for You, Into the Woods) and award winning choreographer Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom), this production won the 2017 Olivier® Award for Best Musical Revival, garnering unprecedented reviews and accolades. Appealing to both theater audiences and concert music fans, this production pays tribute to the historic 1971 Billboard Album of the Year while creating a modern, theatrical world that is uniquely fresh and inspiring.
With music and lyrics by Emmy®, Grammy®, Oscar®, and Tony® winners Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, Jesus Christ Superstar is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Gethsemane,” and “Superstar.”

A national treasure and Leader in youth arts, Seattle Children’s Theatre is an organization we’ve long admired from afar. Their dedication to children and families and their use of the performing arts in service to young people learning about the complexities of the world has long been inspiring. Most recently, they produced A Kids Play About Racism. “A groundbreaking online performance for families that explains what racism is, how to know it when you see and experience it, and ideas for what you can do about it.” Though made for kids, audiences of all ages can learn something new from this innovative and thoughtful production.

August 8, 2020 * 7:30 pm
Presented as an online streaming eventFor the first time in its 9 year history, Costume Drama: A Fashion Show will be performed in YOUR living room!
Fifteen local designers have been working hard to create jaw-dropping garments from unconventional materials. So far, we’ve seen a few detail photos – keyboards and watches, tarps and cellophane, cardboard and office supplies – and we can’t wait to see the completed pieces! That will happen later this month, when we’ll be working with BClip Productions to film Costume Drama. We’ve scheduled one designer/model pair at a time and will film over several days so that we can meet safety guidelines.
Go ahead and circle AUGUST 8 on your calendar! Tickets will go on sale for Costume Drama next week (don’t worry, we’ll send a reminder!)

Written by Sinclair Lewis
Adapted by Tony Taccone & Bennett S. Cohen
Directed by Mary Landingham Dillon
A cautionary dark satire about the fragility of democracy and the threat of fascism, It Can’t Happen Here follows the ascent of a demagogue who secures the US presidency by promising to return the country to greatness. Witnessing the new president’s tyranny from the sidelines is a liberal, middle-class newspaper editor from Vermont who trusts that the system will fix itself–until he ends up in a prison camp. Sicnlair Lewis’s eerily prescient 1935 novel gets a fresh update in this adaptation that examines what brings a citizenry to the point of sacrificing its own freedom, and how a courageous few can prevail to overcome the fall.
