The leaves will be turning this October and the pumpkins will be ready to be carved! The PEANUTS gang returns to the GSMR Pumpkin Patch this October. Ready for some family fun? PEANUTS™ The Great Pumpkin Patch Express returns to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad for 2018! The excursions, which are themed after Charles M. Schulz’s classic story “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” will be departing from the Bryson City Depot in October of 2018!
Join us for our annual SPOOK-TACULAR Halloween Brunch Buffet for a meal that is to DIE for. Chef Nate and his team have created a menu that is sure to have all treats and no tricks. You can come dressed in your favorite Halloween costume or in casual attire. Enjoy live music performed by Bruce Lang.

Our third annual Halloween Festivity, featuring Wild for Life — wildlife rehabilitation center — and their ambassador birds of prey is this Sunday!
From 11 am to 2 pm, bird ambassadors, PeeWee and Rufus (the screech owls) and other feathered friends will be greeting folks at the bakery, while we serve up our favorite Halloween treats and hot cider! Please bring cash donations for the Wild for Life organization, who helps rehabilitate animals who have been injured and returns those that fully recover to the wild.
This is our favorite event of the year, and we can’t wait to see y’all, big and little, there!

It’s almost Halloween and it’s time to carve those jack-o-lanterns! Come make a pumpkin gut mess at Mica Town and leave with a beautifully carved jack-o-latern. We’ll provide pumpkins, basic tools, and a beverage of your choice. All you need to bring is a festive spirit, some creativity, and any tools that you can’t carve without. Cost is $10. When Mark and Kristen James move into an old house in a new town, it feels like the perfect opportunity to escape their recent tragedy and start afresh. But the new neighbors have their own secrets, and the neighborhood may be as haunted as the James’ own past. A classic ghost story in the tradition of M.R. James and Peter Straub, with a twist (or two) you will never see coming. Grave Lullaby was a National Finalist for the 2013 Kennedy Center ACTF David Cohen Play writing Award.
After last year’s critically acclaimed TERRY TEMPEST: The Final Interview, Asheville writer/director Jameson Ridenhour returns to the Magnetic. Jamie has been teaching writing and literature for 18 years. In addition to publishing scholarly articles on Dickens, LeFanu, and contemporary vampire film, Ridenhour edited the Valancourt edition of Sheridan LeFanu’s Carmilla (2009) and wrote a book-length study of urban Gothic fiction, In Darkest London (Scarecrow, 2014). He is also creator/writer/producer of the popular (and creepy) horror/suspense podcast Palimpsest, which is currently in its second season, and is available on every podcast platform. http://www.thepalimpsestpodcast.com/

Join Rebecca Beyer from Blood and Spicebush for another installment of the Herblore of the Wheel of the Year. Samhain, All Hallows or Halloween is arguably one of the Witch’s highest holidays. What plants and trees were used by the old ones to celebrate this auspicious day? We’ll see there’s more to witchcraft then mandrake and belladonna as we meet and explore the key plants of this sacred day within the context of Appalachian bioregional witchcraft an folk magic.

Ben’s Tune-up and Open Source Jiu-Jitsu are coming together for a fun filled night of music, Drinks and Jiu-Jitsu befitting a very good cause.
Grapple for Good is a non-traditional, fun (“not-so-serious”) Jiu-Jitsu tournament to benefit Homeward Bound of WNC and their programs serving veterans in need. While the tournament itself follows a more traditional scoring scheme and ruleset, competitors are encouraged to get creative with their attire and have fun while competing in a friendly manner to help better serve less fortunate members of our community.
What’s “creative attire”? Suits, prom dresses, tutus – if you’re ok with it getting shredded and it doesn’t pose a safety hazard to other competitors, then go ahead and wear it!
Asheville’s own, and a veteran himself, DJ Kilby will be spinning vinyl for the event.

The Pet Parade will take place at 5pm. Come in costume with your furry friends and get ready to strut around the market for all to see. Our panel of celebrity judges with crown winners in categories such as “most creative costume” and “strongest person/pet resemblance”
Raffle:
Grab yourself a $3 raffle ticket (or 10) and enter to win big prizes from WATM vendors, Patton Ave Pets, and many more local businesses. All proceeds will be split between WATM and Mountain Pet Rescue.
Gourd Decorating:
Pumpkins and gourds will on hand for you to adorn with paint, markers, pipe cleaners, glitter, googly eyes, and more. There’s no such thing as too much Halloween spirit, so please come and decorate a gourd for a good cause!

BeLoved Asheville’s Kids Justice League is forming! Come for more information and our first action!
About the Kids Justice League: Kids have always been key agents in the work of change throughout movement history! We believe that kids have the power to make a difference in our community!
Together, we will learn compassion and how to be a part of the work of justice and love!
About our first gathering and action:
Kids of all ages are welcome and are encouraged to come in a super hero costume (no play weapons please) or Halloween costume.
We will be marching in support of the Buncombe County Childcare Initiative proposal going before the Buncombe County Commission. The proposal is to support investment that will make childcare more possible for all community kids 0-5 years old.

Join us on an eerie journey into Greer Station’s haunted past as you stroll through the historic district. Stories and legend of the unusual and supernatural are combined with the fun and fascinating history of our city.
Local historian Joada Hiatt will be leading two ghost walks covering historic hauntings of downtown Greer. Meet at the Depot on Randall Street for a 1/4 mile walk down Trade Street to the Greer Heritage Museum on S. Main. The first walk will begin at 5:30 pm and the second will start at 7:00 pm. A $5 cash donation, benefitting the Greer Heritage Museum, is requested for all participants over 9 years of age.

Fall in Chimney Rock Village is a time of traditions as families with young children and couples return to our bustling Main Street and Riverwalk Trail to take in the splendor of autumn. Merchants show off their creativity all month long by decorating scarecrows in front of their businesses. B&Bs, Inns, and vacation rental cabins decorate too, and the outdoor cafes are brimming with activity. The monthlong celebration of Fall culminates with our annual Trick or Treat on Main St., on Halloween evening from 5 pm to 7 pm. Restaurants in the village may be open later than this. So, dress up the whole family and head down to Main St to score your best treats.

Our Howl-O-Ween event was a huge success last year so we are doing it again and even bigger! Join us for some day time, outdoor, fun in your costumes!
