Energy Savers Network provides repairs and upgrades to improve the energy efficiency of low-income households in WNC at no cost to them. Not only does this reduce demand for fossil fuels and make homes safer and more comfortable, it also reduces the cost burden of inefficient heating and cooling for those in need. Our volunteers are indispensable in this vital work, and we’d love for you to join us. No experience is necessary – we have tasks for folks at all levels of “handy” skills, and you may even learn something you can take home to cut down your own energy bills! Common workday projects include replacing older light bulbs with LEDs, installing low-flow showerheads, insulating attic hatches, cleaning and repairing dryer ducts, and more. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Read more and sign up at https://www.energysaversnetwork.org/volunteer/.
Homeward Bound of WNC is ending homelessness in our community. Using the best practice model of Housing First, we work with clients to move from the crisis of homelessness to housing. We then provide case management services to them so that they can stabilize and remain housed. Housing over 2000 clients since 2006, 89% of them have never become homeless again.
