A mental illness can lead to all kinds of situations. Knowing how or where to get help is often half the battle. Asheville has a multi-faceted mental health system that serves tens of thousands of individuals each year.
Helpmate provides short-term, emergency shelter for battered women and their children, counseling services for victims of domestic violence, including a 24-hour crisis line, individual counseling, and support groups. Also offers professional training and public education in recognizing, treating, and preventing domestic violence.
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country. At NAMI Western Carolina, we are all volunteers who either live with mental health issues or care about people with mental health issues. We want to support you in your recovery and care giving. All Souls Counseling Center is a nonprofit that provides quality mental health counseling to the uninsured and underinsured residents of Western North Carolina.
Jewish Family Services of WNC (JFS) is a nonprofit agency providing mental health counseling and other social services to individuals and families of all faiths in Western North Carolina.
