Join us for a summer of photography with the artists from WNC Photo Group. Their work will be on display in the Community Room mid-May through August. You may view this exhibit anytime the Community Room is open to the public. An opening reception will take place on Friday, May 17 from 5:30-7:00. Refreshments will be provided, and the artists will be available for conversation. This event is supported by the Friends of Fairview Library. Here is a little background about the Western North Carolina Photographers Group (WNCPG). A small group of photographers, who met in other groups and field trips, started meeting monthly as part of the North American Photographers Association (NAPA). When that organization stopped supporting local groups, we continued to get together in each other’s homes and at bi-weekly breakfasts. We enjoyed sharing each other’s images, tech tips and conversations. This continued until Covid put a stop to our get togethers. However, we missed these face-to-face meetings. We transitioned to on-line meetings in 2020 with remarkable success. The group has grown from a dozen members here in Asheville to over 30 photographers across the country. WNCPG members consist of photographers at all levels of expertise, from those just starting out to award-winning professionals. All are welcome to join with all types of cameras. Since we got together as a group, we have showcased our work in several galleries and shows, sometimes as individuals and also as a group. We are excited to exhibit our work in the Fairview Library’s “A Summer of Photography”. Fifteen of our members have submitted photographs for the exhibit and we look forward to sharing them with the public. |
