Both require practice and patience with the medium and with ourselves, but we all start somewhere, and there’s not a better time to try than now! In this four-hour workshop intensive, Ben Kirkland, bonsai artist, creator of the popular YouTube channel Appalachian Bonsai, and a professor of design at Virginia Tech, is a knowledgeable and encouraging guide to help you dispel fears and think like a designer.
With the Bonsai Exhibition Garden as the perfect setting, participants will learn a variety of sketching techniques to assist in the development of bonsai design as well as learn aspects of tree growth. Designed to assist the artist within; all levels, novices and experts alike, will benefit from this artful approach.
