The Peace Center’s Songwriters Series returns! Led by accomplished songwriter Maia Sharp, each concert brings a new guest singer-songwriter to the Upstate for a one-of-a-kind listening room experience in Genevieve’s theater lounge.

Maia Sharp has had her songs recorded by The Chicks, Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Keb’ Mo’, Cher, Lisa Loeb, Art Garfunkel and more. Through it all, Sharp has continued to record her own albums, including eight solo releases, one collaboration with Art Garfunkel and Buddy Mondlock and her duo project Roscoe & Etta with Anna Schultz, her writing and production partner. Each release has been embraced by press and radio, leading to extensive touring and appearances on Mountain Stage, World Café, NPR’s “All Things Considered,” and “The Today Show” to name a few. Her latest album Mercy Rising is out now featuring the single “Backburner.”

More than three decades into his career, singer-songwriter David Wilcox continues to push himself. By so many measures, Wilcox is a quintessential folk singer, telling stories full of heart, humor, hope, substance and searching. His innate sense of adventure and authenticity is why critics and colleagues alike have always praised not just his artistry, but his humanity as well. With more than 20 records to his name, the 2018 USA Songwriting Contest winner pairs thoughtful insights with his warm baritone, open tunings and deft technique to provide fans a compelling musical journey.

Called the “great American romantic” by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour.  His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music and experiencing the success that comes with a television show on Animal Planet (Flipping Ships), McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he’s added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights.
