Former Black Mountain News Reporter Launches Swannanoa Valley Online Newspaper

Fred McCormick, who is well-known in the community from his years working as a reporter for the Black Mountain News, has launched The Valley Echo, a new online newspaper serving the Swannanoa Valley.
The Valley Echo website went live in late February, serving up a full-service platform of local news for Black Mountain, Swannanoa, Montreat, Ridgecrest, Broad River and neighboring communities. Areas of coverage include local government, schools, community groups and events, business news, Valley sports, local history and culture, and more. According to the online newspaper’s website, McCormick founded The Valley Echo to “preserve true local journalism that serves the community by informing and connecting readers . . . on matters that directly impact their daily lives.”
You can find The Valley Echo on Facebook and at thevalleyecho.com. Check the website for forms that you can submit to inquire about advertising, suggest a story, or submit a letter to the editor. For more info, you can also contact Fred McCormick at 828-231-7644 or [email protected].
