Eden Falls: A New Television Series Set to Film in Western North Carolina
Eden Falls, an exciting new television series currently in the development phase, aims to highlight the breathtaking natural beauty, rich culture, and resilient spirit of Western North Carolina. Helmed by award-winning screenwriter, director, and producer Melanie Star Scot, the series is poised to be filmed entirely in the stunning landscapes of the region that Scot proudly calls home. Scot, with 17 years in the film-making industry, has worked on 30 projects which include writing, producing, and directing 5 of her own acclaimed films.
Eden Falls has already garnered overwhelming enthusiasm from both Hollywood professionals and local community supporters. The project is backed by a highly experienced Executive Producer with 25 years of expertise in Global Distribution from one of the largest and most successful production studios in the world. This seasoned executive recognizes the exceptional quality of Scot’s scripts and her strategic vision for the series, marking it as a prime candidate for success. Eden Falls was written in the vein of the hugely successful equestrian series HEARTLAND meets JUSTIFIED, with a little bit of STEEL MAGNOLIAS humor sprinkled in. The series is designed to be family-friendly and centers around a small Western NC town that is forever changed when an opulent Golf Resort/Country Club opens in the area. The series focuses on challenges that the small town faces as it attempts to hold on to its ideals and personality in a rapidly changing world.
As the project progresses, Scot and her team are dedicated to keeping the community informed and engaged. They invite local stakeholders, supporters, and fans to stay connected through their social media channels for updates on upcoming events and opportunities to get involved.
A VIP red carpet screening of the POC will be held on April 12, 2025. This screening is an invite-only event for cast, crew, and potential investors. Public libraries are such a staple of American communities, but how did this system come to be? Celebrate (and investigate) the history of our public libraries! Join us for a screening + community-driven conversation of @IndependentLens’ Free for All: The Public Library at the Black Mountain Public Library. This one-hour documentary explores the transformative power of public libraries in America—from their pioneering origins to their enduring role as sanctuaries in the face of modern challenges like closures and book bans.
A Q&A session follows with Buncombe County Public Library Director Jason Hyatt and members of the Trust Fund for Buncombe County Public Libraries. Together, they’ll explore the issues raised in the film and discuss their relevance to libraries in our local community.
Award-winning, independent films from around the world in documentary, drama, anti-war, experimental and animation categories. Kickoff begins Friday with a full-length feature film and continues Saturday with back-to-back films throughout the day. This is truly an international film fest with 18 films from countries like France, Brazil, Iran, China, Spain, Malaysia, and the US, many of which are premieres!
