Join the artists at Majik Studios on Friday, May 4 and make your mom a gift that will tug at her heartstrings. Create a beautiful marbled silk hankie, or a stunning metal stamped necklace or a personalized printable embroidery gift or a very chic crocheted pom-pom keychain, to name a few.
Cost to attend is $25 per one hour class. Classes are held on the hour, every hour, from 5:00 – 7:00pm, with the last class ending at 8:00pm. You may purchase multiple classes. To register select May 4, DIY Mother’s Day Gifts, and your preferred time on the calendar below. You will be prompted to select your class during the registration process.
The AAAC is excited to welcome the kindergartners of Ira B. Jones Elementary into the Hall Gallery. The kindergarten classes are working on a new social studies unit called Our Community. In this unit they will be exploring questions like: Why do people work? How we can help our community? What are our community’s needs and wants? The students will be learning about different kinds of neighborhoods like rural, city, suburban, and why they are important.
In art class the students will apply their understanding of these topics by creating a paper collage of their neighborhood. They will use various paper shapes to create a collage of a neighborhood. The neighborhoods will “link” together with a road that “unites” us all as one community.
The creations inspired by this lessons will be on display Monday – Friday, 10 am – 5 pm from May 4 – June 29, 2018.

One-Day Workshop
May 5
Saturday, 9:30am-4:30pm
Experience the drama, amazement and instant gratification of Raku in this one-day firing workshop. Bring up to 5 bisque fired pieces (vertically oriented vase and cylinder forms up to 12 inches in height preferred). We will glaze the pieces using a variety of crackle, iridescent luster and matte glazes and fire the work outdoors in our Raku kiln. Pieces will be removed from red-hot kiln and quickly transferred into ash cans lined with flammable materials. Participants will go home the same day with dramatically transformed, finished work! This workshop is limited to 10 participants and will fill up. Early registration is recommended.
