Veil Magic: A Bellydance Choreography
One of the most beloved props in the bellydance world, the veil is fun to learn and impossible to miss onstage. In this 8 week series, students will learn an intermediate level choreography to a slow and enchanting song, “Darigh Nur” by Mario Krilis. Teacher Charlotte Louise has won or played in multiple competition settings with pieces that showcase her veil skills.
Classes will be every Wednesday from February 13th-April 3rd from 6:30pm. Cost is $90. Students who are performing may be asked to attend some additional rehearsals at no cost.
To reserve your spot sign up, here: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=330572&stype=-8&sView=day&sLoc=0
FAQs:
Do I need a veil?
Charlotte has veils to borrow! However, you are welcome to purchase your own veil. A 3 yard silk veil is recommended.
Will there be performance opportunities?
Yes! There will be two performance opportunities. One in Asheville at Asheville Follies, and one in Jacksonville, Florida at the River City Raqs festival. Details for both will be discussed at length. Performance is always optional and never required!
What will the costuming be?
For performances, effort will be made to keep costs low. Bellydance costumes will be worn in warm colors and students are encouraged to use what they already own.

Bowled Over: How to Create Visual Interest on Simple Forms
Laurie Caffery Harris
Wednesdays 6:30-9pm
January 9- February 27
Bowls are often overlooked by potters because they are such a simple form, but they have so much potential! In this intermediate level class, we will explore bowls of all sizes and shapes on the potter’s wheel to create forms that reflect your unique style. We will also discuss and practice surface design through mishima (slip inlay), painting, and sgraffito carving. By the end of the session we will have made pieces that are not only visually interesting, but accurately represent your personal style and sensibilities.
Level: Intermediate and Advanced
Tuition: $310 + $50 Lab Fee
Majo Affirmative Poetry series is poetry that focuses on a person or a relationship rather than on nature, politics, etc. It also is improvisational – made up on the spot.
Majo will be teaching you ten keys for this kind of poetry, which will make it much more concrete – and help you to really know and understand what you are doing. “Ten keys for improvisational poetry – and for life. Learn them in one class – practice them for life.”
More about all of this can be found at my website (www.impimppoetry.com).
The class will run Wednesday evenings 6:30-8:30: February 6, 13, and 27 and March 6 and 13 – skip February 20.
Free informational meeting 2/4 – 6:30-8
Suggested donation of $20 per class – $85 for the whole series but no-one turned away for lack of funds. Questions? [email protected] or 828-582-9822.

The Kennedys return to Isis Music Hallwith their first new CD in three years. Safe Until Tomorrow’s uplifting melodies dovetail with smart and oftentimes hard-hitting lyrics that address the things we all talk about in the office and online, but with The Kennedys patented tuneful sheen. That calls for a strong dose of classic folk-rock punch, Maura’s angelic vocals and straight-from-the-heart lyrics.

Zydeco/Cajun coming in hot from Louisiana!
Horace Trahan is a world-renowned Cajun and Zydeco artist who can pull a mean accordion and belt out vocals that will gives one chills. Trahan started taking accordion lessons when he was 15 from his cousin, Felix Richard.
At 18, Horace hit the road with Cajun/Zydeco legend D.L. Menard, who took him to New York, Boston, Chicago, California Canada, France and the summer Olympics in Atlanta. In 1996, Horace and Menard recorded a CD on Swallow Records and Horace released his own CD, Ossun Blues, for the same label. Six years later, he recorded Get On Board, on the Zydeco Hound label followed in 2001 by That Butt Thing, whose title track became a minor hit in the zydeco/roots music world.

Set sail for laughter as Bertie Wooster revels in life aboard the Vanderley yacht. Bertie is the pampered guest of the lively Lady Stella (very fetching profile), accompanied, as always, by his peerless valet, Jeeves. If only Bertie’s pal Crumpet hadn’t assaulted a prince. In the blink of an eye, Bertie is masquerading as a romance novelist, Crumpet’s posing as his own long-lost twin, and a sinister foreign count is challenging Bertie to a duel. Will this madcap case of mistaken identities end in Bertie’s doom–or worse, his marriage? Have no fear; Jeeves will sort it all out.
