Mitch’s Totally Rad Trivia is a team trivia played in 7 rounds over the course of 2 endlessly entertaining hours. The game covers everything pop culture and is always irreverent by nature. The game is not your average pub quiz as it explores everything from didgeridoo covers of pop songs to bad celebrity tattoos and everything in between. Ever wanted to identify animals by their gonads? Then this is the game for you! Mitch curates a one of a kind trivia smorgasbord of random, unusual, and hilarious subjects. This absurd trivia game is not about historical facts or sports stats, it is all about random movies, unforgettable ear-worms, and the hilariousness of growing up in the 80’s and 90’s. The game starts at 7pm in the cozy One Stop in downtown Asheville. Drink specials include $4 bourbon/$4 Washington Apple Shots and $5 White Russians, and food is available from MOJO Kitchen which offers 1/2 price nachos during the game! MAMA RULES: Prepare a five-minute story involving a mother or mothering! Your womb of origin or the person who raised you. Mother love: making it all better or setting you straight. Maternal instincts and mother-powered superhuman acts. (Lifting a car, anyone?) Mama’s boys, Mommy Dearest and Mr. Mom also welcome. Becoming a mother, finding a mother, or finally recognizing the wisdom of the one you got. (Please be sure that you bring a story about a mother, not an homage.)

It is brilliant and quietly addictive” – The London Guardian
“New York’s hottest and hippest literary ticket” – The Wall Street Journal
The Moth is an acclaimed not-for-profit organization dedicated to the art and craft of storytelling. It is a celebration of both the raconteur, who breathes fire into true tales of ordinary life, and the storytelling novice, who has lived through something extraordinary and yearns to share it. At the center of each performance is, of course, the story – and The Moth’s directors work with each storyteller to find, shape and present it.
Since its launch in 1997, The Moth has presented thousands of stories, told live and without notes, to standing-room-only crowds worldwide.
Moth shows are renowned for the great range of human experience they showcase. Each show starts with a theme, and the storytellers explore it, often in unexpected ways. Since each story is true and every voice authentic, the shows dance between documentary and theater, creating a unique, intimate, and often enlightening experience for the audience.
Moth stories dissolve socio-economic barriers, expose vulnerabilities, and quietly suggest ways to overcome challenges and see with new eyes.

Possessing a beautifully rich, almost operatic voice, Peabo Bryson has established a career as one of the premier male vocalists in contemporary music of the last quarter century. This May, the two-time Grammy® Award-winner and Greenville native comes home to where it all began.
Bryson has the distinction of being the first artist in music history to have separate records topping four different charts (pop, adult contemporary, contemporary jazz, and classical crossover album). Hits “Show & Tell” and “Can You Stop The Rain” climbed the R&B charts, “Tonight I Celebrate My Love” with Roberta Flack became a crossover smash, and beloved tunes “Feel the Fire” and “I’m So Into You” penetrated the hearts of soul fans.
A couple of famous Disney duets earned Bryson his two Grammys: “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion and “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle. After these two milestones, Bryson became a much sought-after guest vocalist and duet partner, including working with Tony Award®-winner Lea Salonga on “We Kiss in the Shadows” and Kenny G for “By The Time This Night is Over.”

Tenth Mountain Division

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3779gOqn4q8
This bands ruminating respect for music of the past, and deep dedication towards the creative crafting of a new sound, sets Tenth Mountain Division apart in the Colorado music scene. “Tenth Mountain Division speaks the language of Colorado, the language of the mountains.” – Noah Stein – CU Independent
Originating from Boulder, CO, founders Winston Heuga (Mandolin) and MJ Ouimette (Electric/Acoustic Guitar) originally sought to create an acoustic bluegrass outfit. After a few years dedicated to playing bluegrass, the duo transitioned to an electrified, rock’n’roll sound. Through out its preliminary years finding their roots in college and playing with an array of different line-ups, the band finally found their permanent line up in May of 2017 with the addition of bassist and vocalist Andrew Cooney. Drummer Tyler Gwynn and the ever-talented keyboard player Campbell Thomas form the quintet that creates a diverse soundscape combining soaring electric guitar leads and jabbing keys while retaining its roots in bluegrass with Heuga’s incomparable mandolin style. The rhythmic interplay of Cooney’s driving bass fused with Gwynn’s incendiary drumming round out the unique sounding band that is truly a style of its own; what the band refers to as “Ski Rock”. Tenth Mountain Division has evolved greatly since its inception but retains its roots in the American musical styles of rock, Americana, bluegrass, prog and the crossroads between them all. Since TMD’s first national tour upon earning a slot at the 2016 Summer Camp Music Festival with headlining acts like Tom Petty’s Mud Crutch, Moe, and Umphrey’s Mcgee, the band has embarked all across this country playing esteemed venues like Boulder’s Fox Theater, Baton Rouge’s Varsity Theatre, Austin’s The Parish, Nashville’s Acme Feed & Seed, Baltimore’s 8X10, and many more; The band has played festivals including Summer Camp, Aiken Bluegrass, Beanstalk, Head for the Hills, Pardee Palooza and after parties for the likes of Dead & Company, Twiddle, STS9, Moon Taxi, and Marcus King Band; and have had the honor of sharing the stage with artists including Nicki Bluhm, Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band/ Bela Fleck), Bill Payne (Little Feet), Jeff Austin (Yonder Mountain String Band), Jeremy Garret ( Infamous String Dusters), Andy Thorn and Alwyn Robinson (Leftover Salmon), Jon Stickley Trio, and contemporaries such as The Magic Beans and Spafford.
This is only the beginning, stay tuned for all that’s to come!

A new temporary exhibit titled “Dressing for the Occasion: Mid-Century Sandburg as Celebrity and Family Man” opens on May 13, 2019. The exhibit, which runs through October, is part of the Sandburg Home tour and features clothing and accessories from both the park’s permanent collection and loaned items from the Sandburg family.
“Dressing for the Occasion” offers visitors a window into the style, culture, and feel of mid-century America. The family’s clothing and accessories weave together the roles of Carl Sandburg as a prominent writer, celebrity, father, and husband. This temporary exhibit offers an exciting opportunity for the public to view objects that are normally in storage or in the possession of Sandburg family members. Tours of the Sandburg Home are offered daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tickets are available first come, first served, each day from the visitor information area in the ground level of the Sandburg Home.
Nearly every room in the historically furnished house museum will be included in the exhibit. Visitors will see the characteristic scarves Carl Sandburg wore as he played his guitar and sang folk songs to entertain his family and guests, the dress Lilian Sandburg wore to meet President Lyndon B. Johnson, and many other mid-century pieces worn by the Sandburgs and their daughters. Historic photographs, paired with the clothing, will provide context.
