Join us in saying farewell to the year of the dog and hello to the year of the pig! In honor of the pups and piggies, we will be donating 10% of our tearoom sales on Tuesday February 5th to the Animal Haven of Asheville. Besides our regular menu, we will be offering special New Year treats including, Fish Congee, Nian Gao (Rice cake), Dumplings, and herbal wine, all to bring in health and prosperity!
Animal Haven: We are a dedicated group of people with the goal of providing protection and refuge to homeless and abused animals. We provide shelter, veterinary care, and rehabilitation for life, or until someone like you comes and adopts one of our animals. Although our emphasis is on farm animals, we often have dogs and cats for adoption too.

We are supporting Bounty & Soul’s work providing healthy food for our local community by providing them with metal silverware for their food sampling events. These wiill prevent the wastage and expense of disposable spoons and forks.
Bounty & Soul provide samples of delicious plant based foods and education for those members of the community who are receiving donated healthy food. Rather than use plastic spoons and forks for the demonstrations and sampling, Bounty & Sould are finding ways to be more green and sustainable, and we want to help.
We are aiming to collect 80 sets of metal or durable bamboo small spoons and forks through the month of February. Please bring washed used or new silverware to our store and enjoy our thanks and a browse and a cup of fair trade coffee.

Winter can be the most beautiful time of the year at Chimney Rock. Leafless trees make for expansive views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge. The sky is clear; you’re likely to find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the peacefulness. You may even see a critter scamper by you in the forest. Capture that special moment or scene on your camera, enter it in our Winter Wonders Photo Contest and tell us about it. We’ll use the winning entries on our website and Facebook album, and you’ll win some fun prizes. Photos must be taken within the Chimney Rock section of the Park.
Cost: No additional cost to enter.

Overview
Climate change indicators, often presented as charts or maps, are defined as “observations or calculations that can be used to track conditions and trends”, but their importance goes far beyond a simple graphic. Indicators help us to: understand how our environmental conditions are changing; consider and assess risks and vulnerabilities; and ultimately take action in becoming resilient to the impacts of a changing climate.
Key Takeaways
Attendees will learn what makes a high quality climate change indicator, what is involved in the development of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) indicators set, and insights into the indicator “platform” that spans deeper efforts by several of the USGCRP agencies.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone interested to learn about the creation of climate change indicators and their importance to decision makers.
