The true story of the small town that welcomed the world.
Broadway’s Come From Away has won Best Musical all across North America!
The New York Times Critics’ Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.
Don’t miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein and helmed by this year’s Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, “It takes you to a place you never want to leave!”
On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.

FREE 8-Week Evidence-Based Falls Prevention Program
Registration Required – Spaces are Limited
Many older adults experience a fear of falling. People who develop this fear often limit their activities, which can result in physical weakness, making the risk of falling even greater. A Matter of Balance is a program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase activity levels among older adults. It includes 8 two-hour sessions for a small group of 8-12 participants led by a trained facilitator. This nationally recognized program was developed at the Roybal Center at Boston University.
Who should attend?
The program is designed to benefit older adults who:
Are concerned about falls
Have sustained falls in the past
Restrict activities because of concerns about falling
Are interested in improving flexibility, balance and strength
Are age 60 or older, community-dwelling and able to problem solve
What do participants learn?
The program enables participants to achieve significant goals. They gain confidence by learning to:
View falls as controllable
Set goals for increasing activity
Make changes to reduce fall risk at home

Come celebrate Earth Day with gallery artist Bryant Holsenbeck!
Bryant will be reading an excerpt from her new book ‘The Last Straw: A Continuing Quest for Life without Disposable Plastic,’ followed with a Q+A and book signing.
Books will be available for purchase at the event through local bookseller Malaprops. In addition, we will be donating 10% of ALL art sales that day to the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Bryant Holsenbeck, an environmental artist in Durham, NC, who has worked and is known internationally, makes art out of stuff people usually throw away. After her realization that there is no “away,” that there is only out of sight, she resolved to create beauty out of trash. She has been making art out of recycled materials ever since, in an attempt to draw people’s attention to how much we throw away and to encourage individuals and communities to be better stewards of the environment.
Blue Spiral 1 gallery’s main floor (38 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801). This event is free and open to the public.
