Maxx Feist is a self-taught artist from Asheville NC who spends all the days and all the times painting! Highly influenced by a regular regiment of caffeine, heavy metal, and true crime podcasts. Maxx fights to connect the cerebral with the visual..always trying to maintain a balance between the dark and the light. This generally come through by way of underworld subject matter highlighted in bright colors and fun abstract shapes, borders, rope-like imagery, and other whimsical additions.

We are inspired by the beauty of the natural world, the rhythms of seasonal living, and efforts toward earnestness and intention. Long-time beer writer Anne Fitten Glenn penned this as a companion volume to her first book, Asheville Beer, An Intoxicating History of Mountain Brewing. This new history of ales and lagers includes the tales of formerly dry towns and counties revising their post-Prohibition regulations to welcome breweries. She relates how those breweries attract community, jobs, tourists, and dollars, as well as mixed emotions, legal conundrums, and entrepreneurial challenges. Glenn traces the history of Western North Carolina beer from the wild days of saloons, bootleggers, and Asheville’s first breweries, through one of the longest Prohibitions in the nation, to the craft beer explosion of the 21st century.”

Award-winning author Anne Fitten has been writing about and working in the beer business since the 1990s. She pens a regular “Mountain Brews” article for Edible Asheville and has written for numerous other publications, including All About Beer, Smoky Mountain Living, WNC Magazine, Asheville Citizen-Times, and CraftBeer.com. Rage, grief, and fear are all sane reactions to being silenced, destabilized, or made to feel invisible, powerless, or ashamed. It makes sense to get angry and it makes sense to go numb—whatever it looks like, self-preservation makes sense. Things stop making sense when we use our vital power to silence and destabilize ourselves and each other—using internalized tactics of tyranny to cope with the harms of tyranny, we perpetuate cycles of abuse and disconnection.

Designed to honor and replenish the deep systems of your body, this class explores different ways of reclaiming power, sensation, and hope.
The practice integrates yoga, music, and guided visualization to provide a space for healing against dissociation, rage, and apathy. The slow-moving pace of the class is set to a carefully-crafted soundtrack of ambient and heavy music. Sometimes the music is moody and relaxing—sometimes it is raw and relentless. Whatever its quality, the music models how intense emotions can be channeled into creativity rather than into destruction and despair.

This offering is intended for all who are burdened and harmed by the homogenizing and dehumanizing violence of American culture.

I’m rooted in the understanding that our bodies instinctively know how to heal. The Adventure Center of Asheville will be offering a night climb at the Treetops Adventure Park. Watch the world transform from dusk to night while climbing in the trees. Trails will be illuminated to give climbing the obstacles a new perspective. Over 15,000 colored lights, plus colorful lasers sparkling on thousands of leaves, cables, rope, and platforms throughout the park will create a mystical tree climbing experience like you can’t imagine.

The Twilight session start time is 4:30. The introductory price this year is $37/person. Standard day sessions are $47. The Red course is not open during the Twilight climbs.
