Learn to brew like the pros by cloning an award-winning craft brew favorite! Since most commercial brewers got their start as homebrewers, they’re eager to share their knowledge and pro tips. Attemping a clone beer is a great way to fine tune your skills as a homebrewer and better understand how subtle differences in equipment, volume, and water composition can alter the outcome of a beer.
Foothills Brewing Company sales representative, Ryan Weir, will be co-instructing this class. Participants will have the option to brew a clone of either Jade IPA or People’s Porter (batch size = 5 gallons or approximately 2 cases). After 2 weeks of fermentation, you’ll be invited back to bottle your beer and take it home to enjoy! You’ll also get some fresh Foothills schwag and product samples. Also included in your ticket is a pint of the Foothills feature tap beer!
This class is geared towards the beginner to intermediate brewer. No experience needed, but you must be 21. Participants are welcome to bring one brewing partner at no additional charge.
We invite anyone intersted in this class to stop by Fifth Season Gardening on Saturday October 6th for a tasting of Foothills Jade IPA and People’s Porter and get registered for the class!
About Foothills Brewing Company: Award winning brewery featuring some of the best hand-crafted beers in the Southeast! Located in Winston-Salem, NC.

Join us for the sixth annual CiderFest NC fundraiser, featuring ample tastings of hard cider, mead and apple wine, along with artisanal food, live music, workshops, a kids zone, and more along the scenic French Broad River.
As the largest annual fundraiser for the nonprofit Green Built Alliance, the al-fresco event will be held during the peak of fall colors and the height of this area’s busiest tourism season from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018 at the Salvage Station, at 468 Riverside Drive, just outside of downtown Asheville, NC.
The fifth annual CiderFest in 2017 connected a record-setting 1,500 people with 20 national and local cider, mead and apple wine makers, and the 2018 event is expected to draw another sell-out crowd to sample sips from an even larger mix of local and national, small and large pourers. In addition to tasting cider and mead, guests can enjoy bites of artisanal food including local cheeses, baked goods, caramels, ice cream, and more. This year’s event will also welcome a mix of food trucks to offer paid meals for hungry cider-sippers throughout the afternoon.
This quintessential family-friendly fall fest also offers arts and crafts from local vendors, live music, a kids zone, and community demos and workshops.
For the second time this year, a limited number of VIT (Very Important Taster) tickets offer advance entry to the event a full hour early beginning at noon to enjoy exclusive access to tastings from our cider and mead makers and artisanal food vendors before the crowds arrive. You may even have the opportunity to sample some specialty, small-batch or limited-release ciders and meads that won’t be available during the regular event. In addition to early access, VITs will also receive free parking on-site at the Salvage Station for convenient access to make the most of your time at the event, as well as a complimentary commemorative CiderFest NC snifter.
CiderFest NC is a carbon-neutral event and will be offsetting the event’s footprint for each ticketholder through contributions to the nonprofit’s Appalachian Offsets program, which is currently fundraising to install a solar system on the roof of Isaac Dickson Elementary School.
Tickets go on sale on Fourth of July, and since the event has sold out in recent years, people are encouraged to plan ahead and buy their tickets early.
