Asheville Affiliates Info Mixer
Jan 30 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Catawba Brewing Company

It started as an idea to “party with a purpose” in 1999. 20 years later, the Asheville Affiliates is a community network of over 3,000 members who’ve raised more than $500,000 for local nonprofits. Many iconic annual fundraisers actually started as Asheville Affiliates parties. If you’re looking for a fun and meaningful way to get involved and give back, join us for a meet and greet.

Each year, the Asheville Affiliates selects three to four non-profits and hosts a fundraising party for each one, with volunteer board members assisting with planning, budgeting, venue selection, sponsorship, and marketing. This mixer is a great opportunity to find out what it means to become a board member or a non-profit partner. There’s no pressure and you’ll have an opportunity to chat one-on-one with current and previous board members.

This event is free and open to the public, but please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.

Board member and non-profit applications are available online at https://www.ashevilleaffiliates.com/contact-and-applications/

Thanks to Catawba Brewing Company for sponsoring the Asheville Affiliates since the very first year! #Cheers

Karen McManus and Megan Miranda
Jan 30 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe

Join us for this dual author event.

Karen McManus, bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying presents a page turning mystery Two Can Keep a Secret.

Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone has declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing. Ellery knows all about secrets. Her mother has them; her grandmother does too. And the longer she’s in Echo Ridge, the clearer it becomes that everyone there is hiding something. The thing is, secrets are dangerous–and most people aren’t good at keeping them. Which is why in Echo Ridge, it’s safest to keep your secrets to yourself.

Megan Miranda, bestselling author of All the Missing Girls and The Perfect Stranger presents the captivating thriller, Come Find Me.

After surviving an infamous family tragedy, sixteen-year-old Kennedy Jones has made it her mission to keep her brother’s search through the cosmos alive. But then something disturbs the frequency on his radio telescope–a pattern registering where no signal should transmit. In a neighboring county, seventeen-year-old Nolan Chandler is determined to find out what really happened to his brother, who disappeared the day after Nolan had an eerie premonition. There hasn’t been a single lead for two years, until Nolan picks up an odd signal–a pattern coming from his brother’s bedroom. Drawn together by these strange signals–and their family tragedies–Kennedy and Nolan search for the origin of the mysterious frequency. But the more they uncover, the more they believe that everything’s connected–even their pasts–as it appears the signal is meant for them alone, sharing a message that only they can understand. Is something coming for them? Or is the frequency warning them about something that’s already here?

We ask that you purchase the books you want to be signed at our events from Malaprop’s. When you do this you are not only supporting the work it takes to run an events program, you are also telling the publishers that they should keep sending authors here. Can’t make it to the store for the event? Call us or order the book on our website in advance, and we’ll get it signed for you. Make sure you write your preferences in the comments if you purchase online.
