ABOUT US

APB has been sending books to folks incarcerated in the Southeast since 1999. We currently send books to people in jails and prisons across North and South Carolina.

APB is a prison abolitionist project. We send books to folks who are locked up because it is one of the best ways we have found to show solidarity with them. As a project rooted in anti-authoritarian politics, we view prison as a tool the State uses to uphold an unjust social and economic order based in large part on white supremacy. When dealing with a system that thrives on dehumanization and isolation, finding ways to connect with and meet the every day needs of incarcerated people is a crucial part of challenging the legitimacy of this repressive institution.

While Orna embraces her new position and tries to balance its demands with her home life, she begins to experience escalating sexual harassment from her boss. Her rapid rise through the ranks and her increasing financial success seem to parallel a pattern of predatory behavior which ultimately brings her career and marital relationship to the brink.
