Bob Sinclair and the Big Deals is a North Carolina-based acoustic band with 15 years of performing Sinclair’s original, upbeat, gypsy-jazz music. Using acoustic instruments this ensemble could be playing in a Paris café or a barn dance – comfortable, a little sophisticated and more than a little fun! With musical range that extends from playing the famed Bluebird Café to regional brew fests to jazz concerts to municipal events to being showcased at Merlefest – Sinclair can be counted on for fun music and great performances.
We welcome them back to the Silver Fork stage!

“Dance is the Art of the Body. Dance is used as a medium to present all the emotions of the body”
Studies show that moving our bodies daily increases our quality of life , and uplifts our spirits.
Dance and self expression are powerful tools for creating more empowered relationships with ourselves , and other people.
I’ve never met one person who doesn’t like dancing (even if it’s only in the privacy of their own home).
In this workshop we will be exploring movement, breath, sensual movement, understanding self expression, and diving deeper into our relationship with movement our bodies and sensuality.
There is NO dance experience required!
This is NOT about perfect technique , this IS about getting to know our bodies ad exploring ways we can create a stronger bond with ourselves.
This workshop will be 3 hours long.
The Price is $50, reserve your spot here: https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=330572&stype=-8&sView=day&sLoc=0https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/ws?studioid=330572&stype=-8&sView=day&sLoc=0
Wear clothes you feel beautiful in, but you can still move around and roll around in.
We will discuss what our beliefs about sexuality and sensuality are- how that applies to our own bodies.
My intention for this workshop is to help open you up to yourself in a deeper more loving and accepting way.
Exploring how we relate to our bodies on a whole and how that is helping us , and how that may be hindering us.
I truly cannot wait to see you all there and break loose together.
– Amber Desmond
Amber is trained in Emotional Awareness coaching.
Her passion is deep self exploration, she has studied and practiced the principles of self love, vulnerability, and authenticity.
She has also been a body worker for 15 years & is passionate about movement/mind body connection.
She has also been a avid pole dancer for the past year and a half, falling madly in love with dance and the incredible community of powerful women she’s met through this amazing adventure.
Amber’s intentions for this upcoming workshop is to combined her deep understanding of the emotional body, with the physical body.
To help us all tap into our sensuality from a more free and open space.
To help us connect more fully with our bodies through movement and self expression.
Touching on the topics of self love, self compassion, body image, sexuality, sensual movement, and emotional empowerment.

Saturday, March 23 we will celebrate Ryan’s 40th birthday with family, friends and YOU, our Refinery family! While he was heavily drugged prior to his emergency open heart surgery in November, the man who hates parties for himself invited his doctors and nurses to a huge 40th birthday party bash at Refinery which they told us about later, and all said they’d love to come to! The idea stuck, and we are going to go all out! Make plans now to spend the evening with us in celebration of Ryan!

Walidah Imarisha, author of “Angels with Dirty Faces,” will address questions on the role prisons serve in our country, the possibility of envisioning a world where people are safe and where there is accountability without prisons, and whether our prison system actually causes rather than reduces crime.
“There was a time I believed prisons existed to rehabilitate people, to make our communities safer. . . . When I saw for the first time (but not the last) a mother sobbing and clutching her son when visiting hours were up, only to be physically pried off and escorted out by guards, I knew nothing about that made me safer. This is the heart of this country’s prison system. And the prison system has become the heart of America.”
—Walidah Imarisha, from the Introduction.
“Angels with Dirty Faces: Three Stories of Crime, Prison and Redemptio”n is a book on criminal justice issues released in 2016 by AK Press / Institute for Anarchist Studies.
Walidah Imarisha has taught at Portland State University, Oregon State University and Southern New Hampshire University. She serves as a public scholar with the Oregon Humanities’ Conversation Project, facilitating programs across the state on topics such as Oregon Black history, alternatives to incarceration and the history of hip hop.
Walidah co-founded the “Human Rights Coalition,” a Pennsylvania organization led by prisoners’ families and former prisoners. She also directed the 2005 Katrina documentary “Finding Common Ground” in New Orleans.

Mountain Man is a creature growing from the mouths of: Molly Erin Sarle, Alexandra Sauser-Monnig, Amelia Randall Meath.
The music of Mountain Man is nestled in the tradition of American folk, but shoots like diamond dust out of the nest into the high, wide atmosphere. Their songs are shaped by three searching voices, encompassing harmonies and a shared belief in and love of the world. They are mutually moved to sing by their love for people, and for trees, birds and mountains, the ocean, the night, the moon, and being a woman. They all love the rambling, rumbling, rolling summer….

And if you’ve seen them perform, you know that they meet that mission, night after night” – Ami Worthen, Mountain Xpress.

In 2017, Foreigner’s catalog sales were celebrated in Business Insider magazine as hitting the Top 40 among the Best Selling Music Artists of All Time. The Beatles were justifiably #1, but Foreigner came in ahead of Britney Spears, Bob Dylan, Phil Collins, Prince, Queen, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard. With ten multi-platinum albums and sixteen Top 30 hits, Foreigner is universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world with a formidable musical arsenal that continues to propel sold-out tours and album sales, now exceeding 75 million. Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including Juke Box Hero, Cold As Ice, Hot Blooded, Waiting For A Girl Like You, Feels Like The First Time, Urgent, Head Games, Say You Will, Dirty White Boy, Long, Long Way From Home and the worldwide #1 hit, I Want To Know What Love Is, Foreigner continues to rock the charts more than 40 years into the game with massive airplay and continued Billboard Top 200 album success.

A seasoned veteran of recording and performing, Desmelik states of his career thus far, “I have recorded in state of the art studios and bedroom closets. I have performed on big festival stages for numerous people and in lonely corners in dive bars for three people and the bartender. Either way, what you get is me with my eyes closed getting lost in these songs. I have chosen the life of a songwriter and musician not because I wish to, or have to, but because I want to and need to. It is my therapy and in this regard the door to my sessions are open.”
