ABOUT US

APB has been sending books to folks incarcerated in the Southeast since 1999. We currently send books to people in jails and prisons across North and South Carolina.

APB is a prison abolitionist project. We send books to folks who are locked up because it is one of the best ways we have found to show solidarity with them. As a project rooted in anti-authoritarian politics, we view prison as a tool the State uses to uphold an unjust social and economic order based in large part on white supremacy. When dealing with a system that thrives on dehumanization and isolation, finding ways to connect with and meet the every day needs of incarcerated people is a crucial part of challenging the legitimacy of this repressive institution.

THE BLOCK off biltmore

STORIES INSPIRED BY THE WOMEN WHO CAME FORWARD
An evening of humor and hurt, courage, anger and honesty
Eight short plays — including two musicals!
All proceeds to benefit OurVOICE

“RAUCOUS! An act of vehement feminist protest…. Mr. Trump has denied their accounts. But these plays — even the funniest of them — vibrate with fury and disgust, and they’re poised to go wide.”
— New York Times

“The play itself was terrific. Each of its eight acts honored a victim and her story (one act actually honored the victims who haven’t yet spoken). Some were disturbing, some were hilarious, most were both. ”
