Do you or someone you know love wolves, dogs, love to paint, love wine, or just love to have fun and support our local wolfdog sanctuary while doing so??? Saturday, December 15th, come on out to Weinhaus at 86 Patton Ave in downtown Asheville for a wolf-themed Christmas “paint-and-sip” fundraiser!
Half of all tickets sales will be going directly to Full Moon Farm, a wolfdog santuary located in Black Mountain. (You can learn more about Full Moon Farm and its residents by clicking here: http://fullmoonfarm.org/ ) As it is with most animals, expenses can be much higher in the winter months, and running the sanctuary for these beautiful and majestic wolfdogs is no different. (They eat A LOT!) Not only will you be supporting the sanctuary by painting with us, but you will also have the opportunity to MEET one of the “ambassadogs” from the sanctuary, as well as talk to some of the volunteers and learn all about Full Moon Farm and wolfdogs!
Bring someone along as a Christmas gift, give someone this experience as a gift, give your finished painting as a gift, OR gift it all to yourself! (You’re TOTALLY allowed to do that.) The whole painting is instructed by one of our talented artists, step by step, and all supplies are provided. We also provide aprons to keep your clothes paint-free, and you get to take home your masterpiece at the end of class! Come ready to try a few brews or wines while you paint, which you can purchase right at the Weinhaus bar. (This event is definitely open to anyone younger than 21 years of age, and kids, too!)
Tickets are $35 per person and the class is limited to 32 guests, so get your tickets soonPlease purchase your tickets ahead of time, it helps us out greatly, and makes sure you get a spot.)
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This fresh adaptation of the film is set in the fictional studio of WVL Radio Theatre, which is struggling to stay on the air one snowy winter’s night. The professional voice actors are unable to get to the studio, but the show must go on—and so a small but intrepid band of employees manages to create the story’s dozens of characters and scenes using just their voices and some everyday household items for sound effects.

Theatre of the Oppressed (T.O.) is a form of popular community-based education that uses theater as a tool for social change. Originally developed out of Augusto Boal’s revolutionary work with peasant and worker populations in Latin America, it is now used all over the world for social and political activism, conflict resolution, community building, therapy, and government legislation. It is also practiced on a grassroots level by community organizers, activists, teachers, social workers, cultural animators, and more. In the Theatre of the Oppressed, the audience becomes active, such that as “spect-actors” they explore, show, analyse and transform the reality in which they are living.
Lise Kloeppel joined the UNC Asheville Drama Department in 2008, where she’s been actively involved with TheatreUNCA as an actress (Urinetown) and director (The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek). She has experience in a variety of educational and community settings as a public school teacher, teaching artist, administrator, and community-based artist.
“With a background in popular education (Freire) and theater of the oppressed (Boal) philosophy and practices, I use theater and the arts as an educational and community-building tool for people from all different ages, experiences, and backgrounds to find new ways of actively engaging in the world around them. I am interested in the role artists play in society and how we can use our tools of transformation to create a more just, peaceful, and connected world.” – Lise Kloeppel

From Sierra Nevada:
When the Camp Fire started in the hills above our Chico brewery on November 8, 2018, it soon became the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California history. The fire burned more than 153,000 acres, killed at least 85 people, and destroyed more than 13,000 homes. Many of our employees and community members were severely impacted by this tragic event.
In the days following the fire, we announced plans to brew Resilience Butte County Proud IPA, a fundraiser beer for Camp Fire relief. We committed to brewing the beer and donating 100% of the sales to the Sierra Nevada Camp Fire Relief Fund, aimed at long-term community rebuilding support. And we asked every brewery in the country to do it with us.
We sent out the “bat signal” calling our friends in the industry, asking our suppliers to donate ingredients, asking other breweries (our competitors) to donate their time and labor costs, and asking our wholesalers and retailers to carry the beer for free. It was a big ask, and we never could have anticipated the response.
More than 1,400 breweries signed up to brew Resilience. Our suppliers donated ingredients to every brewery nationwide. Wholesalers and retailers agreed to carry the beer and donate every dollar they received. All of them agreed to do this for free to benefit people they had never met.
In all, Resilience Butte County Proud IPA should hit the market in mid-late December more than 17,000 barrels—or 4.2 million pints—strong. Every dollar Sierra Nevada receives will go to those impacted by the Camp Fire.
Thank you to the brewing community. Thank you to our suppliers. Thank you to our wholesalers and retailers. And thank you to every single customer who is helping us rebuild our Butte County community—one pint at a time.
