“Expressive vocals and impressive guitar work are just part of what makes April B. & the Cool special. Drawing from hip-hop, soul, rhythm and blues, funk, rock, soul, jazz and reggae, April Bennett puts it all together in sultry and alluring fashion. The band features players familiar to Asheville audiences — members of The Marcus King Band, Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band often turn up — but Bennett is the undisputed star of the show.” – Bill Kopp, Mountain Xpress
April B. & The Cool is a soulful concoction of funk, jazz, hip-hop, and R&B. You can expect some of the most shining, silk-smooth, soul- stirring vocals you’ll ever have the pleasure of hearing, paired with super hip and wonderfully dynamic musical arrangements.

JAZZ is PHSH
JAZZ IS PHSH is an instrumental tribute to Phish inspired by the popular tribute to The Grateful Dead, “Jazz is Dead”. JAZZ IS PHSH is a collective of prominent musicians from the Jazz and Jam scenes that have come together in their appreciation of Phish music to reimagine Phish in an instrumental, jazz fusion setting!
Founded in 2015 by The Chase Brothers, Adam Chase and Matthew Chase, JAZZ IS PHSH has quickly become a world renown tribute to Phish, attracting some of the most influential musicians in the jazz and jam scenes to take part in this collective approach to paying tribute to one of the most important and influential bands in Rock and Roll history.
With the music of Phish being both largely improvised as well as highly composed, the framework of Phish’s music is the perfect vehicle for exploring in an instrumental setting. The compositions are both challenging and adaptive. Jazz IS PHSH provides an exploration of Phish music unlike anything else.

All About Tea & Tea Tasting – with Miles
Saturday, March 23
10 am to 12 noon
With Miles Cramer, Dobra Tea Asheville
In this introductory workshop, we will taste and discuss tea, the stimulating beverage derived from the Camellia Sinensis plant. Join us to explore the fascinating history of tea accompanied by slides of photos taken during Dobra tea’s sourcing trips illustrating the cultures and traditions behind this ancient beverage. A tasting menu of 6 different teas, curated by Miles and Dobra Tea, will showcase the differences found in the flavor profiles of tea – which is determined by the way the teamaster prepares the harvested leaves.
Tea plants (Camellia sinensis) will be available for purchase at our Garden Center, and Miles will discuss the possibilities of cultivating tea in WNC.
See Ticket Link.
About Miles Cramer:
Miles Cramer has been working in the tea industry for the last decade with Dobra Tea, a full service tea house that imports direct from tea gardens all over the world. In his work he has traveled to tea gardens in Asia and learned first hand from tea masters about cultivation, production and tea culture. He teaches educational workshops throughout the southeast, introducing people to the deep heritage and joy of drinking high quality tea.

The MovNat System focuses on teaching the most effective, efficient and adaptable ways to move in various “real world” scenarios. Such scenarios provide numerous variables including differences in: terrain, distance, weight, weather, surfaces, etc. Each variable increases the complexity of any movement skill that may be required of us. MovNat aims to equip each practitioner with the ability to readily adapt to these variables, while staying mindful, efficient, and effective with every movement. The MovNat system emphasizes the cultivation of movement skills over conditioning- focusing on developing holistic functional movement patterns. The MovNat training system starts with efficiency as its foundation. As the quality of each movement skill improves, the mover can progressively increase other aspects such as intensity, volume, and complexity. Practicing these skills with progressively higher demands allows for greater and greater conditioning, better preparing each mover with endless opportunities for adventure.
