Two of Durang’s most popular one acts, “”For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls”” and “”‘dentity Crisis,”” combined together into one night of bizarre hilarity. These crackpot comedies both turn family upside down in a way that only Christopher Durang can.

Her latest release is “PseudoMyopia”, an acoustic collection of timely songs focusing on the concept of vision (including narrow-mindedness) in all its many manifestations, touching on topics as varied as government surveillance, environmental protection, and female empowerment.
Rod Picott
http://rodpicott.com/
Seventeen years ago Rod Picott dropped his tool belt, picked up an acoustic guitar and released his first album Tiger Tom Dixon’s Blues. The acclaimed debut put a nail in the coffin of his construction career and ignited his second career as a singer-songwriter. With his new album, Out Past The Wires, that second career reveals itself in full flame.
The sprawling twenty-two song Out Past The Wires ranges from whispery ballads to guitar driven rockers and hits every musical spot between. Like much of Picott’s catalog, many of the songs on Out Past The Wires center around the lives of working people and the losses, defeats and small victories that can come hard won in a calloused world. It is here in the ordinary where Picott finds the gold he mines so beautifully on songs such as “Take Home Pay” – one of four songs written with longtime friend and co-writer Slaid Cleaves.
Picott’s eye for the revealing detail and sense of empathy has brought praise from music critics since his debut and those qualities, as well as a potent defiance is on full display across Out Past The Wires. Now 52 years old and nine albums into his music career Picott is more prolific than ever. The twenty-two songs were culled from a staggering number of seventy-eight. In the two years between Fortune and Out Past The Wires, Picott has also become a published poet (God In His Slippers – Mezcalita Press) written a screenplay and is releasing collection of short stories, also titled Out Past The Wires, that accompanies the release of the album. Many of the characters from the songs on the album find their stories expanded and even more finely detailed in the book.
For production duties Picott turned again to Neilson Hubbard (Kim Richey, Matthew Perryman Jones) who produced Picott’s most recent album Fortune. The recording band consisted of Will Kimbrough/Electric Guitars (Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell) Lex Price/Bass (K.D. Lang), Evan Hutchings/Drums (Brandi Carlisle) and Kris Donegan/Electric Guitars (Sara Evans). The band worked quickly in studio, relying on the instincts of world-class players and Hubbard’s steady hand to guide the ambitious project.
Out Past The Wires is the latest and one of the most potent pieces of work from Rod Picott since he left his hammer to rust and sharpened a new set of tools all those years ago. Picott will be touring throughout 2018 and 2019 in support of the album and book release.

Harmony is the blending of various notes and elements that, when they come together just right, create one impacting sound. Add to that a genetic connection and a heartfelt commitment to convey the love of Christ, and you have the astounding and soaring harmonies of SISTERS. Raised in a loving home by parents committed to teaching them to serve the Lord and to make Jesus the motivation for sharing their talents with the world, Kim Ruppe Sheffield, Heather Ruppe Bennett, and Valerie Ruppe Medkiff, all sisters, have embarked on a new endeavor that is taking the music world by storm. Their worldwide tour is reaching people of all ages and musical tastes. Years of ministry brought changes for The Ruppes as the girls went their separate ways at various times. Through it all, they continued to minister and they remained very close as a family. Now God has opened the door for them to come full circle and sing together as Sisters and they are loving every minute of it. Sisters has been a dream of ours for a long time. We can’t really pinpoint a “time” when God put the dream in our hearts. It seems to have always been there, but the timing wasn’t quite right. We just always agreed that when God opened the door of opportunity, we would take the step of faith and walk through it. We are so excited to have the chance to minister to people with our music. Somehow, it’s different when Sisters are on stage together. We have such kindred spirits and, musically speaking, we think so much alike. It’s like God touches us with a special anointing when we sing about Him. We don’t ever want to take the platform we’ve been given for granted. We know that in any given situation, the audience that we are in front of is full of hurting, broken people. We know, because we’ve been “the audience” many times before. We all have the same needs and wants, the same questions and struggles. We are ALL living this life and sometimes it gets hard. But if we have a few minutes to share our music and our hearts just to let people know how good and gracious God is even when life gets tough….what an opportunity that is and may we ever be mindful of that! We are so thankful that finally, the three of us have been given the chance to sing as Sisters. And today, Sisters are traveling all over the country sharing their dynamic harmonies and deep love for Christ. Their magic on stage in combination with incredible songs and amazing vocals is absolutely unstoppable. For this group of inseparable sisters, dreams really DO come true as can be seen by the honor of their awards: Gospel Music 5 time Female Group Of The Year, Progressive Album Of the Year, Female Vocalist Of The Year. Fan Award, Dove Award and multiple Grammy nominees.
Come drink some local Hard Cider or Craft Beer and dine on some delicious food from Mike’s On Main Street or some of Aubrey’s Homemade Wings & Sauces. Then it’s time to listen to some great music!

Nothing better than a Saturday Night of LIVE music at Sanctuary Brewing Company with Letters to Abigail!
Letters to Abigail IS AN APPALACHIAN/AMERICANA BAND BASED IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. SOME FOLKS DESCRIBE THEIR MUSIC AS A SIMPLE SOUTHERN PLEASURE. DIGGING DOWN INTO THE ROOTS OF THE REGION, THEY BLEND A CLASSIC APPROACH TO A NEW ORIGINAL SOUND, DRENCHED IN POWERFUL LYRICS, ACOUSTIC MELODIES AND SOULFUL HARMONIES.
THE STORY STARTS OUT LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN NEW YORK TWO GENERATIONS AGO OR PERHAPS ON A MOVIE SET IN HOLLYWOOD TODAY: THE GIRL WAS WORKING IN A WINDOWLESS BAR HIDDEN AWAY IN THE BACK OF ANOTHER BUSINESS WHEN THE STRANGER WALKED IN WITH A GUITAR, BEGAN PLAYING AND SINGING, AND SUDDENLY SHE WAS AWARE OF NOTHING BUT HIS VOICE. CAPTIVATED, SHE INTRODUCED HERSELF AND THE TWO SOON VENTURED OUT INTO THE WORLD TO MAKE MUSICAL HISTORY.
CHANGE A FEW DETAILS AND THE REALITY OF LETTERS TO ABIGAIL IS NOT FAR REMOVED FROM THIS TALE.
SEVEN YEARS AGO, KELLI REDMOND WAS WORKING AT THE BACK ROOM, A SMALL MUSIC VENUE TUCKED AWAY IN THE BACK OF THE FLAT ROCK WINE SHOPPE. IT WAS OPEN MIC NIGHT AND JAMES HARRELL WAS THERE TO PARTAKE IN THE EVENING’S FESTIVITIES, UNBEKNOWNST TO THE FACT THAT THIS EVENING WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE EVERYTHING ABOUT HIS MUSICAL PATH. “I THOUGHT HE SOUNDED FANTASTIC” REDMOND SAYS, RECALLING HER FIRST IMPRESSION OF HARRELL. “I WAS ALREADY DOING THIS MUSIC THING IN MY LIVING ROOM WHERE A BUNCH OF US WOULD PLAY TOGETHER SO I INVITED HIM TO JOIN US.”
THE REST, AS THE CLICHÉ GOES, IS HISTORY. AS SOON AS THEY FIRST PLAYED TOGETHER THEY NOTICED HOW WELL THEIR VOICES COMPLEMENTED EACH OTHER “LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO BE” SHE SAYS WITH A TONE THAT STILL SOUNDS AS EXCITED AS SHE MUST HAVE BEEN WHEN THIS ALL FIRST HAPPENED.
FROM THIS CHANCE ENCOUNTER LETTERS TO ABIGAIL WAS BORN. THE DUO IS A MODERN DAY STRING BAND WITH A DISTINCTLY OLD TIME FEEL AND IT IS EASY TO SEE WHAT DREW THE TWO MUSICIANS TOGETHER. WHEN REDMOND AND HARRELL SING TOGETHER IN HARMONY IT REALLY DOES FEEL LIKE THE TWO WERE DESIGNED WITH THE EXPRESS PURPOSE OF BEING BAND MATES. WHETHER IT IS A HEARTFELT LOVE SONG LIKE “ANGEL IN ORDINARY SHOES” OR AN UPBEAT AND CATCHY BREAK-UP SONG LIKE “LEAVE THE LEAVIN’” THE DUO SOUNDS LIKE MASTERS OF THEIR GENRE, BOTH MUSICALLY AND LYRICALLY.
IN REALITY, LETTERS TO ABIGAIL IS STILL IN THE EARLY STAGES OF WHAT PROMISES TO BE A LONG AND SUCCESSFUL MUSICAL JOURNEY. THEY RECORDED THEIR FIRST ALBUM “SAY ANYTHING” IN 2013 WHICH MADE WNCW’S LIST OF TOP 100 RELEASES OF THE YEAR. REDMOND ADMITS, THOUGH, THAT THE ALBUM WAS HEAVILY INFLUENCED BY WHAT EACH OF THEM HAD BEEN DOING BEFORE THEY TEAMED UP. IT WAS A COMING TOGETHER OF “WHAT HE WROTE AND WHAT I WROTE” THAT THEY HAD POLISHED AND PRESENTED AS A DUO, AS OPPOSED TO A COMPLETELY JOINT EFFORT BY THE BAND.
ALL OF THAT CHANGED WHEN THEY RECORDED THEIR SOON-TO-BE RELEASED SELF-TITLED FOLLOW UP ALBUM. REDMOND PROMISES A MORE ECLECTIC ALBUM THAT REPRESENTS THE DUO’S WORK WRITING THEIR MUSIC AS A TEAM. “IT’S A LITTLE BIT OF A MOSH PIT” IN TERMS OF STYLE SHE PROMISES WITH A LAUGH. AS AN EXAMPLE SHE SPECIFICALLY MENTIONS THE INCLUSION OF A MURDER BALLAD, A BLUES TUNE, HEARTFELT LOVE SONGS, UPLIFTING TRACKS, AND EVEN A “SLOW, RAINY DAY KIND OF TUNE” COMING IN THE FORM OF “TAKE ME AWAY,” ORIGINALLY MADE POPULAR BY HAYES CARLL. THE RESULT IS AN ALBUM TRULY REPRESENTATIVE OF LETTERS TO ABIGAIL’S TALENT AND, SPECIFICALLY, THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCES, OF WHICH THEY PERFORM WELL OVER 100 TIMES A YEAR.
