A Bronx Tale
Feb 6 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm
Peace Center

Broadway’s hit crowd-pleaser takes you to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s – where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he’d love to be.

Bursting with high-energy dance numbers and original doo-wop tunes from Alan Menken, the songwriter of Beauty and the Beast, A Bronx Tale is an unforgettable story of loyalty and family.

Academy Award® winner Robert De Niro and Tony® winner Jerry Zaks direct this streetwise musical – based on Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri’s story – that The New York Times hails as “A Critics’ Pick! The kind of tale that makes you laugh and cry.”

Jeeves at Sea
Feb 6 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
North Carolina Stage Company

Bertie is the pampered guest of the lively Lady Stella (very fetching profile), accompanied, as always, by his peerless valet, Jeeves. If only Bertie’s pal Crumpet hadn’t assaulted a prince. In the blink of an eye, Bertie is masquerading as a romance novelist, Crumpet’s posing as his own long-lost twin, and a sinister foreign count is challenging Bertie to a duel. Will this madcap case of mistaken identities end in Bertie’s doom–or worse, his marriage? Have no fear; Jeeves will sort it all out.

Of the Sparrows, the most common are Song, Field, and White-throated Sparrows but it is possible to view White-crowned and Savannah. During this winter bird walk it is likely that many of the Southeastern Woodpeckers. We hope you can join us for the first of FENCE’s seasonal bird hikes of 2019.

Dismantling Racism
Feb 7 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Lake Logan Conference Center

The workshop provides a safe place to talk about race and racism. It is non-confrontational and blameless. One outcome of the workshop is the the adoption of a common language for our discussions of race and racism.

The workshop leaders, and the entire Commission to Dismantle Racism, were trained by a team of the Mennonite Church called the Damascus Road Training Team. The Mennonite Church includes being anti-racist in its mission.

The workshop employs a combination of teaching and experiential activities to help with the learning. During the workshop we SHARE some of our past experiences related to race. We REFLECT on the legacies of our various racial heritages; ANALYZE the dynamics and nature of racism; and we EXPLORE the connection between anti-racism work and the Gospel. We give racism a common definition we can all understand.

The workshop is approximately five hours long, including time for lunch.

For the past few years, the Level 1 Workshop has been required participation for all clergy, vestry members, and members of diocesan commissions at least once every five years. Most of the participants who come because of the requirement state, at the end of the workshop, “I am glad I came.”

There is a $15 fee to attend the workshop, which covers the cost of your lunch.

PLEASE SEE OUR CANCELLATION POLICY BEFORE REGISTERING.
