If you don’t drink red, this is not your tasting! Join us Saturday for our free wine tasting featuring an all-star cast of big and bold reds! Sample 5 full-bodied, full flavored red wines for free.
Red wine lovers unite! And especially those who love deep, rich, and barrel-aged red wines. We’re pulling the corks on 5 very different reds from different parts of the world and you’re invited. From the Southern Rhone and Bordeaux to Napa Valley and Tuscany, we’re hitting all of the high points for this free and engaging tasting. Taste the wines, save 20% by the bottle on tasting day only, and stock up!
Asheville’s Best Free Wine Tasting – Just stop by – we’ve got plenty of free parking!
Don’t forget, all the featured tasting wines are 20% off by the bottle on tasting day.
1. 2016 Montenidoli Toscana Rosso (Tuscany, Italy) – In the Chianti hills, not far from San Gimignano, lies the famed Montenidoli estate. Elisabetta Fagiuoli’s Sangiovese grows naturally in the poor red soils of the region, and the 2016 vintage yielded a glorious crop. Boasting ripe aromas of rich red fruit and mineral, this satisfying and mouthwatering red is firm and mouthcoating.
2. 2016 Domaine la Manarine Cotes du Rhone (Southern Rhone Valley, France) – In case you haven’t heard, the 2016’s from the Southern Rhone are stupid-good! And this 100% Grenache-based wine comes from older, organically tended vineyards. Fermented with native yeasts in tank, the finished wine is bottled without filtration. Ripe and boasting generous red fruits, intense spice, and herbal nuances, this is a prime example of what the vintage produced.
3. 2015 Chateau de Fontenille Bordeaux Rouge (Bordeaux, France) – Famed viticulturist Stéphane Defraine has led this overachieving estate since 1989, and he believes the fabulous 2015 vintage helped to produce the best wine ever at this estate. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in French oak, this is soft and fleshy with ripe notes of plum and dark cherry. More complex notes of fennel and cedar emerge with air.
4. 2016 Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero (Castilla Y Leon, Spain) – No discussion of Ribera del Duero would be complete without mentioning the wines of Emilio Moro, one of the region’s all-star, veteran producers. And here’s fine example of Tempranillo, done the “Emilio Moro way.” From 15-25 year old vines, it is fermented in stainless steel and aged in French and American oak for 12 months. Ripe, generous, full and laced with supple tannins, this one delights with notes of blueberry, plum and spice cake. Bravo!
5. Surprise Wine – What do we have up our sleeves this week? Trust me, if you love Napa Cabs, you’re gonna’ love this!

Cacao Circle – Journey of the Heart
Saturday February 23, 4-8pm
Pristine wintertime is calling us to gather into circle and open the hearts to be seen in our essential authenticity. This cacao facilitated circle is guiding us to dance on the edge of creation and deep-dive with the subtle equilibrium of inner masculine and feminine, light and dark, sound and silence, movement and stillness… See what you find in the center.
This cacao, known also as pure chocolate, comes directly from Guatemala, magical lake Atitlán, that is considered as one of the most powerful energetic acupuncture points of the Earth. By joining the circle, you help local farmers and cacao community in Guatemala to receive back and thrive!
A warm drink of 100% cacao facilitates a heart opening experience releasing natural endorphins and neurotransmitters responsible for the sensation of love in body. This heart opening elixir helps one to tune into the true essence of Oneself and bring focus into what needs healing and care the most at the time. This circle will create a container for enhanced creativity, movement, breathwork, sound exploration and journeying, energetic activation, pair and group connection, togetherness and sharing. By gathering together we can cultivate more energy to allow our hearts to expand, to be seen in our authenticity, stand tall in our center and uplift the world around us.
Sliding scale: $35-55
