Jamie Laval’s Celtic Christmas captures the beauty and atmosphere of Scotland, Ireland, Brittany, and Iceland during the holidays. An entertaining and thought-provoking family holiday experience, the show weaves a tapestry of music, dance, poetry, and stories that hearken back to the ancient Celtic celebrations associated with the Winter Solstice and Christmas.
Headlining the show is North Carolina-based violinist and storyteller Jamie Laval who in 2002 won the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Championship. He has performed for Her Majesty The Queen, appeared on the NBC Today show, and presented a TEDx Talk. Laval’s recent album Murmurs and Drones won the popular vote for “Best World Traditional Album” in the 2012 Independent Music Awards.
Joining Laval is a cast of young, critically praised performers of Celtic harp, woodwinds, guitar, Irish step dancing, and sublime vocals.

All Aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS! This memorable journey will take you on an incredible journey! Believe the magic this Holiday season!
Over 88,000 guests rode THE POLAR EXPRESS with the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in 2017 and we hope to see you in 2018! The 1¼ hour round-trip excursion comes to life as the train departs the Bryson City depot for a journey through the quiet wilderness for a special visit at the North Pole. Set to the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack, guests on board will enjoy warm cocoa and a treat while listening and reading along with the magical story. Children’s faces show the magic of the season when the train arrives at the North Pole to find Santa Claus waiting. Santa will board THE POLAR EXPRESS, greeting each child and presenting them with a special gift as in the story, their own silver sleigh bell. Christmas carols will be sung as they return back to the Bryson City Depot.
THE POLAR EXPRESS begins November 9, 2018, and operates through December 31, 2018.

To send off our third year serving our friends and neighbors in the Asheville community, Golden Fleece will offer a sumptuous5 course prix-fixe menucurated by Executive Chef, George Delidimos. See the full delicious line-up of luxury and lucky flavors below. Tickets for the evening will be available at 5:30pm & 7:30pm and will be $65 per guest (tax and gratuity not included). Golden Fleece will also offer wine pairings for the 5-course feast for an additional $25 per guest. Our 2018 intern, Gabriel Whitlock, will be embarking on a 1,500 mile bike tour from his home in Fairview to Little Rock, Arkansas to attend the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group. Gabe intends to raise awareness about hunger, food insecurity, and the ways that The Lord’s Acre works towards community-based solutions. “I saw this fundraiser as a chance to give back to all that The Lord’s Acre has given to me and just make that circle complete,” says Gabe.
