Listening Sessions for Buncombe County Sports Park Use Agreement
Oct 27 @ 7:00 pm
online

Goalie behind soccer goal

Buncombe County Recreation Services has Use Agreements with qualified nonprofit organizations for the maintenance and management of some of its County-owned spaces, typically athletic fields. These agreements benefit the community by offsetting costs for operations, creating opportunities for sports leagues to grow, and expanding funding through public-private partnerships.

In the next few months, Buncombe County will solicit proposals for a Use Agreement regarding soccer fields at Buncombe County Sports Park, but would like to hear thoughts from community members first. The feedback gathered at these virtual listening sessions will help shape the Request for Proposals.

“Buncombe County Sports Park has become one of our most-visited facilities with the explosive growth of youth and adult soccer in our area,” according to Peyton Daisy O’Conner, Director of Recreation Services. “We value the diverse soccer community that uses all of our fields throughout the county and intend to ensure any potential partners embody Buncombe County’s commitment to respect, integrity, collaboration, honesty, and equity. The input of players, parents, and neighbors who live near the park is imperative to choosing the best partner.”

If you cannot attend one of the virtual sessions, please submit your thoughts, questions, or comments to [email protected] by Nov. 10 at 5 p.m.

  • Listening Session A: Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. via Zoom (link available soon)
