The Montreat Conference Center (MRA) is planning to build a 40 room hotel with meeting rooms and an underground parking garage on Assembly Drive in the center of Montreat, directly across from Robert Lake Park. We are strongly opposed.
Montreat Lodge Proposal Update
Last week, after 50+ hours of meeting over several months, expert testimony, and significant financial resources, the BoA has decided to approve the MRA’s permit application.
The Special Use Permit granted to the MRA allows them to build a 40 room hotel with underground parking and meeting rooms on Assembly Drive. This is adjacent to public and privately owned property that will be significantly impacted by major development. Along with the Montreat Stewards, we are very disappointed with this decision. We believe that the proposed hotel would be detrimental to Montreat as shown by the evidence presented by the Hayner and Jones families and the demolition of invaluable historic resources is needless at best.
As further legal action is considered, please consider making a donation to support the effort. Find more information at
montreat-stewards.org.

Winter weather is expected to hit most of TBC’s service areas this weekend and into early next week. Not only will this impact operations for TBC, it will more importantly affect blood donor turnout, leaving the blood supply in a more unstable position. Community donors are urged to donate blood this weekend ahead of the storm to ensure hospital needs are uninterrupted. Appointments are encouraged but not mandatory. Additionally, blood drives are just as essential as blood donors. To host a blood drive, please call 864-751-5003.
One donation can save up to three lives. REMINDER: Donors who have received the COVID-19 vaccine (1st or 2nd shot) CAN donate blood. More information, including safety measures, can be found on the TBC COVID-19 webpage. TBC is strongly encouraging donors to make appointments to donate blood. Donors will receive a special gift as a thank you for saving lives

Your blood is going to someone who really needs it. To get it there is a process. It takes a team; our phlebotomists collect the blood, our couriers bring it to our headquarters for processing, our lab techs process it, and our couriers then deliver the products to our hospitals. Once they’re there, lives are saved.

The start of the new year has a critical call
going out for blood donations. AdventHealth Hendersonville invites you to help meet this
critical need at its upcoming blood drive on Wednesday, January 26, 2022. The Blood
Connection recently announced that critically low blood supplies are affecting local hospital
orders. While the supply situation has not impacted AdventHealth’s ability to meet the need
of our patients at this point, we want to provide a convenient option for the community to
help increase the blood supply for our community.
One hour of your time is all it takes to provide this vital resource for family, friends and
neighbors in need of blood products as they battle cancer, face surgeries or experience
emergencies.
To help make it easy for the public to donate, AdventHealth and The Blood Connection are
following all safety protocols including requiring face coverings and social distancing. TBC
will screen all donors for COVID-19 Antibodies after every completed donation.
