Flat Rock Playhouse Presents All Shook Up July 26-Aug.18
Jul 28 @ 2:00 pm
Flat Rock Playhouse Leiman Mainstage

Performances Wednesday and Thursday at 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, Friday at 8:00 PM, Saturday at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and Sunday at 2:00 PM.

Celebrate hit songs made famous by Elvis Presley at the Flat Rock Playhouse in the upcoming production, All Shook Up! A famous Broadway musical hit, All Shook Up combines the hilarity of Shakespearean comedies, such as A Midsummer Night’s Dream, with the rock & roll music of Elvis Presley. In a musical presentation akin to Godspell and Footloose, this jukebox musical tells the story of a small-town girl with big dreams, a stick-in-the-mud mayor who has squashed any fun in her town, and the surprise visit of a leather-jacketed, guitar-playing, hip-swinging stranger. Experience the magic of rock & roll, gospel, romance, mistaken identities alongside Broadway-caliber musical numbers and hits such as, “Love Me Tender,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Can’t Help Falling In Love”.

Paint and Sip at Catawba Brewing!
Jul 28 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm
Catawba Brewing Company

Time to take a little “slice” out of life, and join us for a Sunday Funday full of pints and painting at Catawba. This is a perfectly summery theme, and I’m sure there will be beers to match. Be sure to get tickets before they’re gone. Our last few have sold out! Read below for more info on how to make the most of your weekend…

Details: I’m basically a travelling art studio for newbies! So this is an awesome art party for all. Everything you’ll need will be set up and ready to go when you arrive. I’ll walk you step-by-step through our painting on a 16x20in canvas. The paintings are intended for newbies and non-artists (So you can do it! For real. I’d even pinky swear to it). The painting should take about 2.5 hours (maybe a little more if you take your time), and while we’re painting you can snack and chat and partake in some drinks (if that’s your fancy)! Now get your tickets, because I can’t wait to paint with you!

TICKETS: You must pre-pay to participate in this event!! Tickets must be purchased by 1pm on 7/28! Tickets are $30 and can be purchased via the link below. All the art materials you need will be provided. Please be sure to select and pay for the correct number of seats you’ll need. PATIO SHOW :: Stephen Evans and The True Grits at The Grey Eagle
Jul 28 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
The Grey Eagle

FREE PATIO SHOW :: Stephen Evans and The True Grits at The Grey Eagle

The jammed highways of Atlanta drove him to the beautiful mountain town of Asheville, NC in 1996, where he quickly began soaking in the creative influence of his amazing surroundings. After many years of vacillating between being a professional musician and being building a nest in Asheville, Stephen has focused on his love for creating and performing music.
Stephen’s strong melodic songwriting style is a blend of creative imagery of darkness and hopeful optimism. There is no denying the passion that shines through with his powerful vocals and lyrics. Songs like ‘The Garden’, ‘Cherokee Hills’, ‘1000 Roses’ and ‘Shining Star’ are beacons of his folk rock songcraft. With some local radio play on WNCW 88.7 and 98.1 The River, and upcoming shows with the True Grits as well as solo shows spreading around the Southeast, be sure to check out what Stephen Evans wants to share with you.

AVL – Dave Desmelik #MusicOnTap
Jul 28 @ 11:00 pm – Jul 29 @ 1:00 am
Nantahala Brewing

Dave Desmelik is a singer-songwriter and instrumentalist whose musical focus is on original compositions. What attracts listeners to Desmelik’s tunes, old and new, is the element of authenticity incorporated in them. There is no sugar coating involved. His songs are not wrapped in false smiles, rather they are stark and open and tend to settle on the pulse of everyday life. An unclosed and evolving journal of thoughts set to music and melodies in prose and instrumental performance. If you listen to Dave Desmelik’s songs, whether lyrical or instrumental, you may become pleasantly fixed in the simplistic realness of them and if you hear Desmelik in a live setting you may realize that there are no tricks, just a genuine venture into the highs and lows of life.
