Eric Blevins, chief photographer at the North Carolina Museum of History, will present a program at Mountain Gateway Museum about images in the state history museum’s collection that didn’t make the “cut” for the Look Again exhibition. Having worked at the state history museum for 30 years, Blevins is very familiar with its photographic collection and well prepared to discuss its contents and examine why photographs are not only pieces of history but some of our most priceless possessions. While the program is free, registration is required, as the number of seats is limited. For more information or to register for the program, contact RoAnn Bishop at the Mountain Gateway Museum at 828-668-9259 or email her at [email protected]

Awesome News,
I just landed a brand-new residency in Downtown Asheville!!!!!!
It’s gonna be held at the Downtown’s newest bar Asheville Club. Such a quaint little spot on the corner overlooking Haywood Street. It’s also an early bird show, so everyone can make it out. Come here some good ole tunes and grab a beverage.
Vaden Landers was born in Knoxville Tn. In his late teens, he traveled America’s Railways & Highways, learning music and lessons in life on the way. Since moving to Asheville,NC, Vaden has been focusing on song-writing and creating new music. Listening and learning from his passion of old music, he intends on carrying on the Tradition of American music through his own. Vaden has played in many different kinds of bands throughout his life, as well as with a few notable acts.

Winter can be the most beautiful time of the year at Chimney Rock. Leafless trees make for expansive views of Lake Lure and the Hickory Nut Gorge. The sky is clear; you’re likely to find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy the peacefulness. You may even see a critter scamper by you in the forest. Capture that special moment or scene on your camera, enter it in our Winter Wonders Photo Contest and tell us about it. We’ll use the winning entries on our website and Facebook album, and you’ll win some fun prizes. Photos must be taken within the Chimney Rock section of the Park.
Cost: No additional cost to enter.
