The Cleverlys are a one-of-a-kind comedy/music blend coming from the remote part of the Ozark Mountains, near Cane Spur, Arkansas. Digger Cleverly, along with his nephews Ricky Lloyd, Sock, DVD and Cub, make up The Cleverlys. They have traveled the globe, if the globe only consisted of the United States, performing at music venues and some of the nation’s largest festivals like Stagecoach, Telluride, CMA Music Fest and even the Grand Ole Opry.
The New York Times wrote, “If Earl Scruggs, Dolly Parton, and Spinal Tap spawned a litter of puppies, it would be the Cleverlys.”
Don’t be fooled by this faux-family band – they are all accomplished musicians putting their unique bluegrass spin on cover songs from any genre. The Cleverlys’ set list includes genius arrangements of tunes like Psy’s “Gangnam Style,” a medley of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” and Flo Rida’s “Low” that recently went viral on Facebook, with over 11 million views from a local TV appearance.
Rolling Stone Magazine says Digger’s “out-of-date eyeglasses are as thick as his hillbilly accent, but whose comic sensibilities are a hilariously off-kilter hybrid of Homer & Jethro and The Office.”
Doors open at 7:00pm; band begins at 7:30pm.

“With a nod to the past and a firm foot down on the gas toward the future, the ‘Dusters… don’t leave bluegrass behind; they’re stretching it from within.” – New York Times
“…these stellar bluegrass players are pushing the music forward.” – David Dye/World Cafe
The Infamous Stringdusters rise to new heights on their ninth full-length record Rise Sun. For the album, the GRAMMY® Award-winning quintet—Andy Falco [guitar], Chris Pandolfi [banjo], Andy Hall [dobro], Jeremy Garrett [fiddle], and Travis Book [double bass]—expanded their signature sound by perfecting their seamless fusion of All-American-bluegrass and rock.
Once again sail into uncharted territory moored only by their expressive patchwork of All-American bluegrass threaded together with strands of rock, jazz, funk, country, old-time, and more.
As they approached this latest body of work, the group’s ambition matched their outsized creative curiosity.
“Rise Sun was sparked by the feeling of wanting something better for the world—more love, more awareness, and more compassion,” says Hall. “It’s a message of taking care of each other, our planet, and ourselves. We all shared this feeling as evidenced by the songs we brought to the project. It’s the feeling of a rising sun as opposed to a dark night. Sometimes a message of hope is less popular than one of despair, but it’s much-needed nevertheless.”
It’s also a message that 13 years, eight studio projects, and nearly 1,000 shows prepared the boys to properly present.
The Infamous Stringdusters stand out as the rare group who whose dynamic musicianship can be showcased with contemporary artists on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert one night and jamming on the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre alongside The Grateful Dead’s Phil Lesh the next.
Engendering a sense of impassioned fandom, they band have attracted a faithful audience that continues to grow. Moreover, their powerful music and performances paved the way for a GRAMMY® Award win in the category of “Best Bluegrass Album” for 2017’s Laws of Gravity.
When it came time to record what would become Rise Sun, they pushed themselves to evolve once more.
“Rise Sun is the latest chapter in the progression of our sound,” says Pandolfi. “It’s been a long arc that includes evolution on all fronts—writing, arranging, performing, and maybe most importantly, growing as humans who have more to say as the journey rolls on. New albums are the time when we write and introduce our strongest original material. On our last release Laws of Gravity, we really started to hit our stride with recording live in the studio. Rise Sun is another big step in that direction.”
For the first time, the band chose the song order before actually recording. Additionally, they maintained that order throughout the process, recording the songs in sequence which resulted in a natural flow. This choice, “gives it the feeling of a story as you listen down,” says Hall. It represented a moment of collective confidence.
“We self-produced the last album, so we felt validated in a sense that our instincts were sound,” adds Book. “We came into this one with some confidence. Any doubts about our band or our mission had dissipated. What remained was a deep sense of purpose and love.”
“The GRAMMY® put some high-octane gas in our tanks as well,” grins Garrett. “We also wanted to rise to the challenge of making a follow-up project worthy of what we had done in the past.”
The Infamous Stringdusters introduce the album with the handclap-driven gallop of the title track “Rise Sun.” High energy banjo powers an uplifting and undeniable refrain that immediately shines.
“It’s a hopeful anthem,” Book elaborates. “The sun is rising, and the light is overtaking the darkness. The idea for the melody, inspired by Southern gospel music, came to me driving out of the mountains into Georgia from my home in North Carolina. When we wrote it, I was feeling a deep sense of hope for humanity that the sun will rise again.”
Then, there’s the hummable instrumental “Cloud Valley,” which exudes a sci-fi spirit of wonder via sonic intricacy. “Science fiction can transport you to a place of deep imagination,” says Pandolfi. “We wanted to generate a soundscape for an imaginary mystical setting. It really came alive when we all got together.”
Everything culminates on a heartfelt send-off with “Truth and Love.” Its delicate musical backdrop transmits an important statement for The Infamous Stringdusters.
“I wrote that a few years ago and brought it back now, because I feel like the message has become more relevant today,” Falco states. “The world is polarized. Everything is so extreme, and partisan politics have become a culture war. The song is a reminder of what’s truly important in life—seek the truth, find your love, look up high, and aim above. Life is short, so keep your eye on what’s important while you’re here.”
In the end, that’s precisely what The Infamous Stringdusters do on Rise Sun as they boldly welcome yet another new day, new phase, and new chapter.
“We’re a brotherhood, but that family extends beyond the band even,” Falco leaves off. “Our music gives us an opportunity to bring some light in a world that can be dark sometimes.”

DBUK (Slim Cessna’s Auto Club) + Norman Westberg (SWANS) + Morgan Geer (Drunken Prayer) at The Grey Eagle
DBUK
DBUK, which was originally called Denver Broncos UK, was formed ten years ago as a trio featuring Auto Club members Cessna, Jay Munly and Lord Dwight Pentacost, who were all living in different states at the time. Cessna says they started recording ideas and sending them to each other, with some of the original recordings done on a four-track recorder. The band played a few shows before adding Rebecca Vera, who’s part of Munly & the Lupercalians (another side project) and has since joined the Auto Club.
“It’s a different experience,” says Slim Cessna of DBUK. “It’s actually quite challenging for me. I’m only speaking for myself, because there’s a lot of concentration. The Auto Club is a rock band, and when you mess up, it’s kind of fun. It’s part of…everyone’s drinking and whatever. With DBUK, it’s very intimate and honest, quiet and lovely. It’s nice to be able to do both of those things.”
——-
Norman Westberg
Best known for his work with the seminal outfit, SWANS, Westberg’s output beyond that group is sprawling and restless. His name recurs and ripples through many interconnected micro-histories surrounding New York City’s music and art scenes. From appearances in film works associated with the Cinema Of Transgression, through to his participation in bands such as The Heroin Sheiks and Five Dollar Priest, Westberg’s name is woven deeply in to the fabric of NY, over the past three decades.

Drunken Prayer
“Morgan Geer is the real thing— a songwriter with a heart as deep as the Marianas Trench and as sensitive as the wet hands of a raccoon.”

Flux Capacitor
Born and raised (literally) as a power trio, the Specht brothers’ intuitive dynamics are the engine of Flux Capacitor’s progressive, psychedelic rock sound. Steady regional touring, emanating from their Reading, PA home base earned the band broader recognition, ultimately landing them on festivals like Bonnaroo, Peach Fest, Wormtown Music Festival, Domefest and Werk-Out West. Flux Capacitor’s melding of varied rock idioms with elements of electronica- in the context of fluid improvisation- and an ear for melody and song structure made them a perfect fit for support gigs with artists like Papadosio, Lotus, Dopapod, Twiddle, They And and others who share a musical and cultural aesthetic with Flux Capacitor and their steadily growing fan base. With three full length albums, a live album and three singles under their belt, Flux will be releasing a fourth studio album in 2018.

Join us for our April Professional Development and Morning Networking featuring speaker Matt Godfrey, CEO at Alpine Towers International, Inc. and founder/owner Periscope Solutions, LLC in Asheville, NC. Our speaker will discuss his career pivot experience – what led to his decision and what he learned along the way. In conjunction, facilitating a discussion around the fractional employment work model.
Matt’s focus on growth centers around establishing a platform where leadership avoids the pitfall of becoming entangled in daily operations, effectively getting “pulled underwater” losing sight of the horizon. He takes on clients in fractional or full-time capacity to establish this platform or, often times, extends a hand to pull them back to the surface.
For thirteen years, Matt worked for a fortune 500 company, winning many accolades and promotions along the way. For the past 5 years, Matt has been deeply engaged in the entrepreneurial community of Western NC.
Along this path, Matt has collected many cherished “badges of honor,” affirming his capacity toward helping others gain perspective and find the trail markings once again. His passion for learning, solving problems and working with dedicated entrepreneurs is what drives him.
Matt graduated from Appalachian State University with a BSBA/Marketing in 1998, and. earned his MBA from Western Carolina University in 2010. Sales, operations, finance, marketing and leadership comprise the core of his practical experience. He has worked in manufacturing, healthcare, green technology and outdoor recreation industries. Matt is currently an executive board member for the Outdoor Gear Builders of WNC.
A student of the “essentialist” movement, Matt is making strides toward becoming a more essential leader, coach, friend, husband and father. He loves spending time with his wife and two boys (11&14). He is a tinkerer, enjoys being outside skiing, hiking, camping and yes, golfing! His sense of humor can be described in two words – dad jokes. However, when it’s time to be serious, Matt is engaged and ready for action.
