¡TriskaTrivia! Themed Trivia Night!
May 15 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Triskelion Brewing Company

¡Triskatrivia!
2019’s Themes: (updated as they are determined)

June 5th – Westerns Movies/TV
June 12th – Sports
June 19th – Dungeons and Dragons
June 26th – The Pursuit of Trivia
July 3rd – America!

¡TriskaTrivia! is Triskelion’s Themed Trivia Night!
Starts at 7pm, and usually lasts at least an hour and a half.

Glorious Prizes:

First Place Team: $25 Gift Card
Second Place Team: $15 Gift Card

Each member of the team that wins the Very Hard Questions Round (almost always Round 3), will win a free beer.

If at least 6 people dress up in costumes that relate to the night’s theme, then the best dressed (determined by me) wins a free beer!

(that means if your entire team of 6 are the only ones dressed up, then a member of your team is destined to get a free beer)

There are six rounds, with 10 questions each, and each round will be on a different subject that relates to the night’s theme… Each question is worth 5 points.

Teams can consist of up to six players, or you can play by yourself if you have no friends.

Cheating is not allowed… no phones, no “yelling out of answers” (even wrong ones), and no handy reference materials… This is not an open book trivia night.

Come on out and show off your Brainz!!!

(or lack thereof)

An Evening with Monica Rizzio & JP Parsons
May 15 @ 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Isis Music Hall

$12 Advance / $12 Day of Show

Monica Rizzio: How does a girl from an East Texas ranch get to the fishermen docks of Cape Cod? Music. Award-winning, alt-country songwriter Monica Rizzio will perform an acoustic solo set on May 15th at Isis Music Hall. Tom Rush quotes, “I made the tactical error of inviting Monica Rizzio to share the stage with me at Symphony Hall and she went and stole the audience right out from under me!”

JP PARSONS: Blending folk, bluegrass, americana, and roots music, East Tennessee luminary JP Parsons has been received as a regional songwriting sensation throughout the Southeast. Either performing as a solo artist or with The American Bandwagon, his songs are immediately familiar. From large festivals to the tiniest of bars and listening rooms, this is definitely one bandwagon worth joining.

Dressing for the Occasion: a New Temporary Exhibit
May 16 @ 9:00 am – May 17 @ 5:00 am
Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site

A new temporary exhibit titled “Dressing for the Occasion: Mid-Century Sandburg as Celebrity and Family Man” opens on May 13, 2019. The exhibit, which runs through October, is part of the Sandburg Home tour and features clothing and accessories from both the park’s permanent collection and loaned items from the Sandburg family.

“Dressing for the Occasion” offers visitors a window into the style, culture, and feel of mid-century America. The family’s clothing and accessories weave together the roles of Carl Sandburg as a prominent writer, celebrity, father, and husband. This temporary exhibit offers an exciting opportunity for the public to view objects that are normally in storage or in the possession of Sandburg family members. Tours of the Sandburg Home are offered daily from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Tickets are available first come, first served, each day from the visitor information area in the ground level of the Sandburg Home.

Nearly every room in the historically furnished house museum will be included in the exhibit. Visitors will see the characteristic scarves Carl Sandburg wore as he played his guitar and sang folk songs to entertain his family and guests, the dress Lilian Sandburg wore to meet President Lyndon B. Johnson, and many other mid-century pieces worn by the Sandburgs and their daughters. Historic photographs, paired with the clothing, will provide context.

Ben Frankin’s 13 Virtues Circle
May 16 @ 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Jubilee Community Church

Founding father and master inventor Benjamin Franklin was also a pioneer of self-improvement. In 1727 Franklin formed the Junto, a weekly mutual-improvement club made up of a group of his peers and fellow Philadelphia tradesmen to discuss 13 core virtues and explore how to better incorporate them in their lives – and use them as a foundation for enriching the world. The club became the launching pad for all sorts of civic initiatives: the public library, the post office and the volunteer fire department, which have had a lasting impact on society.

Join us while we gather to discuss the 13 virtues in the context of the present day. We’ll meet weekly for 13 weeks and commit to making better and more conscious choices about our own behavior and work with others to spread those virtues through acts of kindness and good deeds. There is no cost and it is open to all!
