Join us in celebrating Diwali at Chai Pani! We’ll have samosa chaat, sabudana vada, and sweet potato chaat for lunch and dinner, and for dinner only we’ll add a special lamb shank vindaloo to the menu, in addition to all our regular Chai Pani menu items.
We’ll also have delicious deserts all day, including bhapa doi, kheer, sooji halwa, and gulab jamun.
Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is one of the biggest, most joyous, and most celebrated holidays in India, and we are getting in the mood of Diwali fun here at Chai Pani. Diwali is a word derived from a Sanskrit word ‘Dipavali’, which means a row or series of lights. The significance of the festival varies from religion to religion, but the excitement and the festive spirit remain the same throughout. In each legend, myth, and story of Deepawali lies the significance of the victory of good over evil. From darkness unto light—the light empowers us to commit ourselves to good deeds and brings us closer to divinity. During Diwali, lights illuminate every corner of India, and the scent of incense sticks hangs in the air, mingled with the sounds of firecrackers, joy, togetherness, and hope.
We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday!

About Janine…
Janine first discovered pole fitness in 2009 and since then, she’s been hooked. She became a certified pole fitness instructor and wanted to help others bring out their “sexy swagger,” all while getting a good workout and having fun doing it. Through pole dancing, she wants to be able to inspire, entertain, and encourage others to reach their fitness goals. She loves the experience of performing; the preparations and final result; while watching, encouraging, and enjoying others performing on the stage. Janine has competed in several pole competitions, such as several Pole Sport Organization competitions, where she went on to compete at Nationals in 2017; the Florida Pole Fitness Championships, the North American Pole Dance Championships, the Titans of Pole Championships, and the USPDF Championships. Janine loves everything that pole dancing has to offer, which is fun, fitness, and the ability to have camaraderie with so many great people. Janine is also a certified MixxedFit Instructor and STRONG by Zumba Instructor. She absolutely enjoys teaching pole and other fitness classes at Aradia Fitness Triangle, where she is a Managing Partner to Aradia USA’s Dakota Fox. Janine comes from a background in Journalism, which has helped with teaching her students, and has a Master of Arts from American University in D.C. and a Bachelor of Arts in Radio-Television with a Minor in History from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. She was born and raised in Miami, FL, loves living in NC, but will always be a Miami girl at heart.

On Wednesday, November 7, 6-9 p.m., District Wine Bar and celebrity grillmaster Jeff “Rhino” Bannister are teaming up for an evening of authentic Spanish food and wine to support Asheville Music School. A ticket price of $70 per person includes complimentary Spanish wines by the glass with a tasting of small-production or estate-grown bottles (and the option to make purchases), small-bite Spanish pintxos, and traditional paella. Live entertainment by flamenco guitarist Juan Benavides and percussionist Ryan Oslance will enhance the evening’s Spanish theme. Business sponsored tables for six will be available for $600. Contact [email protected] for sponsored table inquiries.
Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Jeff “Rhino” Bannister is perhaps best known as the founder and leader of Bovinoche, whole animal cooking extravaganzas. Since his first roast in the Upstate in 2011, curious diners have gathered to watch him roast whole cows, goats, and bacon-wrapped alligator. The 50-year-old chef has received national attention for his dinners, and has appeared on multiple TV shows including Chopped Grill Masters (Food Network, 2017) Man, Fire, Food (Cooking Channel, 2017), Smoked (Destination America, 2016), Fat Guys in the Woods (The Weather Channel, 2015), American Grilled (Travel Channel, 2014), and Anthony Eats America (Food Network, 2013).
Bannister has been cooking paella since 2005 and is a spokesperson for PaellaPans.com. His most ambitious paella dinner involved a 55-inch pan that served 200 people. He recently spent three weeks traveling through the Andalucia region of Spain eating as much paella as possible and honing his skills in the preparation of the traditional dish. For this dinner on November 7, he will be preparing a 75-person paella on-site.
Opened in the River Arts District in February by Lauri and Barrett Nichols, District Wine Bar offers wines from around the globe in an eclectic setting. The menu includes more than 60 wines by the glass and over 60 wines by the bottle, European beer, plus cheeses, charcuteries, and more small bites. For this special dinner, they will be offering a selection of Spanish wines to accompany the food, plus a tasting of small-production or estate-grown wines from Spain, which will also be available for purchase.

Performance: Healing Modes by Brooklyn Rider
“[Brooklyn Rider’s] superb playing is matched only by the thought, commitment and inspiration its members pour into projects…making the string quartet not a relic of times long gone, but a vessel for the shape of music to come” – NPR Music.
BMCM+AC and UNC Asheville presents the Asheville debut of the eclectic string quartet Brooklyn Rider with premiere of their new project Healing Modes. The healing properties of music have been recognized from ancient Greek civilization to the field of modern neuroscience and expressed in countless global traditions. The slow movement of Beethoven’s Opus 132, a ‘Song of Holy Thanksgiving From a Convalescent to the Deity in the Lydian mode,’ is among the most profound expressions of healing in the string quartet repertoire. This autumnal masterwork is presented in its entirety alongside five compact new commissions which explore the subject of healing from a wide range of historical and cultures perspectives. Composers include Tyondai Braxton, Reena Esmail, Gabriela Lena Frank, Matana Roberts and recent Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw.
$10 for BMCM+AC members + students w/ID / $15 non-members
