We are honored to share our passion for our Beloved Black Bears in our exhibit at the “FW Gallery” in Woolworth Walk – downtown Asheville. We are grateful to have been chosen to be their Featured Artists. We want to also thank the many lovely people who work at Woolworth Walk and have supported and assisted us with the exhibit.
The FW Gallery exhibit will end Tuesday, January 29th at 6pm. Our permanent artist booth #229 downstairs “Beloved Black Bear” has over 50 black bear canvases 11×14 at $75 each. We hope you will stop by to visit.
We are happy to say that many black bear canvases have been sold and are now adorning many homes. Our wish is for all of us to share our compassion for the black bear with our friends, family, and neighbors and create connections with the bears giving them a voice.
Love, April Johnson & Jeff Miller

RESCHEDULED FROM DECEMBER-
To commemorate the WWI Centennial, Pack Memorial Library will be hosting a special screening of documentary film, “The American in Paris: The True Story of the American Hospital of Paris in WWI” with a special short film following entitled, ” At Home and Over There: American Women Physicians in World War I.”
The American Hospital played an important role in Paris and France during the First World War. Many Americans- doctors, nurses, and philanthropists- volunteered to provide the medical and support services well before America officially entered the war. Volunteers of the ambulance corps for the hospital went on to form the Lafayette Escadrille, two members were from Asheville. Members of the Vanderbilt family were directly involved with the war effort at the hospital as well.
“The American in Paris” offers a fresh perspective on the U.S. role during the First World War, reveals the extraordinary participation of thousands of unsung heroes, and shows how young people taking action during a time of crisis were able to make a significant contribution. History may not remember the volunteers, but France has never forgotten. This film demonstrates the ties that strengthened the bond between the two nations.

Greg Howard presents The Whispers, in conversation with Allan Wolf
The Whispers is a middle grade debut that’s a heartrending coming-of-age tale, perfect for fans of Bridge to Terabithia and Counting By 7s.
Eleven-year-old Riley believes in the whispers, magical fairies that will grant you wishes if you leave them tributes. Riley has a lot of wishes. He wishes bullies at school would stop picking on him. He wishes Dylan, his 8th grade crush, liked him, and Riley wishes he would stop wetting the bed. But most of all, Riley wishes for his mom to come back home. She disappeared a few months ago, and Riley is determined to crack the case. He even meets with a detective, Frank, to go over his witness statement time and time again. Frustrated with the lack of progress in the investigation, Riley decides to take matters into his own hands. So he goes on a camping trip with his friend Gary to find the whispers and ask them to bring his mom back home. But Riley doesn’t realize the trip will shake the foundation of everything that he believes in forever.
