WHY YOU SHOULD REGISTER
Now your kids don’t have to sit around and watch while mom and dad compete – they get to jump into the action and earn medals too! Organized by Lake Lure Classical Academy, your children can enjoy many events in our Junior Olympiad.
EVENT DETAILS
Being able to share in the spirit of competitive events makes the Lake Lure Olympiad even more special for athletes and their families. Kids can enter one or all of the events listed below and earn medals accordingly. The Lake Lure Olympiad is truly fun for the whole family!
BASKETBALL SHOOT
Sink as many of your 10 shots as possible. A standard height hoop used for older kids (7 years and up) and lower height hoop for younger kids.
BASEBALL THROW
See how many baseballs you can throw through the target!
40-YARD DASH
What else? A race against the clock!
STANDING BROAD JUMP
See how far you can jump from a standing position.
PLUS…
Obstacle Course and Inflatables
RETURNING THIS YEAR– Anthony Famiglietti, 2-time U.S. Olympian,
will be at the Junior Olympiad meeting kids, taking pictures and
signing autographs!

The 63rd Annual Skyview Golf Tournament will be held July 11-13, 2023 at historic Asheville Municipal Golf Course. The Skyview Golf Tournament welcomes all new golfers and we hope to see all of our returning players at Muni.
Bring your children and join Extension Master Gardener volunteer Carol Brown under the awning for fun gardening activities – learning about soil, water, seeds, plant needs and much more! Following the activities, the group will visit the Veggie Garden of The Learning Garden and see a variety of DIY raised beds, and plants growing in grow bags pots. We will harvest and taste vegetables that are ready.
There will also be a scavenger hunt to identify the parts of plants. Fun door prizes will be raffled!
NOTE: This presentation is limited to 20 children. Children must be accompanied by a caring adult.
Portions of this program may be held outside; please dress appropriately for the weather.
The presentation is free, but attendance is limited and registration is required

The event features a variety of local cycling entrepreneurs, service providers, and leaders who share their stories, products, and services in a series of 3min dynamic presentations facilitated by Asheville on Bikes’ executive director, Mike Sule. Following presentations Asheville Brewing Company sponsors a pint and conversation with presenters and attendees. Seating is limited to 100 guests so please RSVP for Bike Fest Industry Night.

. Master Gardener volunteers will be available to answers your gardening questions and address your related concerns. Feel free to bring plant or insect samples for identification and/or problem resolution. Soil test kits and information about in-person programs and activities at The Learning Garden and the Gardening in the Mountains seminars will be available. Please stop by to learn more!
Stop by and learn about composting at home. See five different composting methods on display, including a single bin unit, a tumbling composter, a wood pallet bin, a classic 3-bin system and an example of vermiculture on demo day..
