Tonight we are joined by two researchers and historians who will present on sites of African American history and resistance here in western North Carolina. Ronnie Pepper will discuss his research into the Kingdom of Happy Land, demonstrating the importance of viewing it from an African American perspective. Lisa R. Withers will present a portion of her dissertation research into the Negro Motorist Green Book sites as part of a network of resistance from discrimination. The two guests will answer questions at the end in a Q&A. Tickets: Free for WNCHA members/ $5 for General Admission. We also have no-cost, community-funded tickets available.
