Malvern Hills Park’s 90 year-old outdoor pool will not open this summer. While we were able to keep the facility operational through last summer, the pool can no longer be repaired to safely meet the needs of our community. For more, read this article.

The tour is 60 minutes long and includes no stops. The tour is hosted by a zany tour guide, and along the way other characters will hop on the bus and perform kid-centric sketches (Candy Pirate, Ninja, and a Levitator) The tour is not only fun – it’s educational! The Learning Garden is open for informal visits Monday through Friday throughout the year, but if you visit on a Wednesday, during the growing season, you can meet the Master Gardeners working in the gardens and ask questions about the plants and their care. A visit to The Learning Garden, on a workday affords you the opportunity to view each of nine garden areas, to ask questions and learn successful horticultural practices from the Master Gardeners who lovingly tend the gardens. The Learning Garden consists of these individual areas: Gateway Garden, Rose Garden, Cottage Garden, Four Seasons Garden, Dye Garden, Vegetable Garden, Pollinator Garden, Compost Area, and the Sun and Shade Garden. In addition, the complex has about two miles of walking trails. On the last Wednesday of the month from June to September (June 26, July 31, August 28, September 25) you can join a more formal tour and be lead through the gardens by a master gardener docent as you watch the other gardeners caring for the plants. See beautiful and interesting plants, delicious vegetables, native plants for beauty and pollinator interest. The tours start at 10:00 a.m. and should last approximately an hour. The tours will begin outside the front door of the Buncombe County In the event of steady rain in West Asheville, the workday and the tour will be canceled. The tour is free and registration is not necessary. We invite you to visit often, observe the gardens, and ask questions as the Master Gardeners tend the gardens through the growing season. Time for you to see our mountain streams from a new perspective. River Snorkeling is a fast growing hobby that allows you to see a whole world just under the surface of the water. *All participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No charge for adults attending who do no wish to get in the water/snorkel but everyone must register in advance to account for limited seating. For those who would like a ride in the van, participants will meet at 70 Gashes Creek Rd, Asheville, NC 28805.
*Each participant will be given a wetsuit, wetsuit socks, snorkels & masks. Life Jackets can be provided by request. Participants should provide shoes that can get wet and securely attach to your feet.
*Van transportation is provided.
*This program is weather dependent and may be rescheduled based on safe water levels in the river.

Fun for the whole family on the big purple bus! Educational and entertaining, LaZoom’s Kids’ Comedy Tour features a perfect blend of Asheville’s history and kid-centric comedy. You’ll learn about our city’s past and see the sights in true LaZoom style–complete with our famously outlandish tour guides, hilarious comedy skits and all sorts of special appearances!
Swimming Pools
Asheville Parks & Recreation’s public pools provide safe and affordable outdoor summer fun for all ages. For info about pool schedules, please call 828-348-4770 or visit ashevillecitypools.com.
Malvern Hills Park’s 90 year-old outdoor pool will not open this summer. While we were able to keep the facility operational through last summer, the pool can no longer be repaired to safely meet the needs of our community. For more, read this article.

Dates of Operation:
Grant Center Pool: Saturday, May 25th through Sunday, August 11th
Recreation Park Pool: Saturday, May 25th through Monday, September 2nd, weekends only from
August 12th through September 2ndPools open weekends only until June 10th, with the exception of Monday, May 27!
Hours of Operation June 10 through August 11:
Monday through Friday – 12:00pm-6:00pm
Saturday – 11:00am-6:00pm
Sunday – 1:00pm-6:00pmCost is $3 per person per day
The 2024 event will offer an Individual 8k run, an Individual 5k and the Chick-fil-A Mini Moo One Mile fun run. Come join us for this classic, family friendly Hendersonville event!
Free Event Shirt until deadline
All participants in the 8k and 5k will receive a free shirt with their registration until August 18th at midnight! Beginning August 19th, shirts will be available for $10 in limited quantities and sizes.
All Mini Moo participants will receive a Mini Moo shirt free with their registrations until Sunday, August 18th at midnight! Shirts will no longer be offered after that date.
