Now located at the Regeneration Station, the swap works the same as always: purchase your ticket (now a tax-deductible donation!) drop off clothing (clean and in good condition) at Regeneration Station before the event date. On the day of the event, show up to shop the swap!

– Blue Ridge Humane Society (BRHS) invites the community to
participate in Paws for a Purpose, a signature fundraising weekend bringing together local businesses
and individuals to raise awareness and funds to support their mission of ensuring the highest quality of
life for animals in Henderson County and surrounding communities.
Local businesses are encouraged to host fundraisers throughout the weekend, and can include donating
a percentage of sales, hosting a pet supply donation drive, hosting a pint night or yappy hour or creating
an individual celebration that includes a raffle or contest with proceeds benefitting BRHS. Individuals are
also encouraged to host parties with friends, neighbors or co-workers. Parties can be at their favorite
establishment, a neighborhood clubhouse or at the office and can include sit-down dinners, block
parties, or pet supply drives, for example.
“This signature fundraising event has become a community favorite over the last four years because of
its creative and inclusive nature,” said BRHS Executive Director Angela Prodrick. “Individuals and
businesses empower others to contribute as much or as little as they desire in the course of one
weekend, and these collective efforts amount to a significant impact for our organization. Together, we
can save local animals in our neighborhoods by supporting small, locally owned businesses.”

The Blue Ridge Humane Society, Inc., is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization started in 1950 and
dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of life for animals in Henderson County and our neighboring
communities. BRHS cares for pets awaiting adoption at the Adoption Center; offers low-cost vaccine
clinics, animal education programs, pet training classes, and youth education and projects; coordinates
community pet food assistance, emergency vet assistance, and the Spay Neuter Incentive Program
(SNIP), which is a collaboration with Henderson County, the City of Hendersonville, and the Henderson
County Animal Services Center.

The winner will receive gift certificates to 52 different Asheville-area restaurants. The gift certificates are transferrable, so you can share them with friends and family, give them as client gifts, or, of course, use them all yourself!
Gift certificates do not include tax or gratuity and cannot be used for alcohol. Some restaurants may limit use during holidays or special events. Certificates can be used for dine-in or carry-out service in cases where the restaurant offers the carry-out option.

A single winner will be drawn via livestream on MANNA’s Facebook page on or before Friday, May 15. All raffle ticket holders will be notified in advance of the exact day and time of the drawing. Ticketholders do not need to be tuned into the livestream to win. The 2024 Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay is SOLD OUT. Teams interested in running in 2025 should join our mailing list (http://madmimi.com/signups/357921/join) to be notified when registration opens or check out our Fall 2024 event, the Ville to Ville Sprint Relay (https://sprint.villetovillerelay.com/) ! The Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay celebrates the beautiful region from Asheville, NC to Greenville, SC. It is a 72-mile team running event traveling from the peaks to the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, through local craft breweries, and into quaint southern towns. The 7th Annual Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay will be held on April 13, 2024. The first flight of teams will start the relay around 5:00 am in Asheville, NC. Over the next few hours, additional teams will depart on their journey through the Carolinas. Each team will consist of three to six runners who will split 12 legs ranging from 3-9 miles. Each team will provide its own race vehicle to drop off and pick up runners at designated transition areas along the course route. Ville to Ville teams will arrive at Hampton Station in Greenville, SC between 3:00-8:00 pm for a finish line celebration which will include music, food, and, of course, craft brews. 2024 THEME Our 2024 Theme: Famous People from the Past! If you could go back in time, who would you most want to go on a run with? Let’s celebrate those who made the past great! From presidents, celebrities, creatives, and Nobel Peace Prize winners, let’s make Ville to Ville 2024 one to remember. PACKET PICKUP/WELCOME RECEPTION Thursday, April 11, 2024 – Southernside Brewing Company – 25 Delano Dr, Greenville – 4:30-7 pm Friday, April 12, 2024 – Asheville Sports Club, 137 Coxe Ave, Asheville, 3-7 pm Saturday, April 13, 2024 – Starting Line, Recreation Pool Park, 65 Gashes Creek Rd, Asheville *Only captains or a team representative are required to come to the packet pickup event, but all participants are welcome to attend. AGE REQUIREMENTS All runners must be 21 years old or older to participate in the Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay. CANCELLATION / WEATHER This is a rain-or-shine event. The race director has the right to change the course or change the event in case of inclement weather or state restrictions. More details on our weather policy can be found on our team resources page.
Kids Fishing Tournaments: For young anglers, the first kids fishing tournament will be taking place on April 13 at Charles D. Owen Park from 8-11:30 a.m. There will also be kids fishing tournaments at Lake Julian Park on May 4 and August 24, from 8-11:30 a.m. These events are open to all youth 15 and under. Competitors will be divided into age groups (0-5, 6-10, and 11-15) with prizes in each for biggest fish caught, smallest fish caught, and most fish caught. The admission for these fishing tournaments is $10, which includes bait, beverages, and grab-n-go breakfast items. Pre-registration is encouraged.
The Lake James 7 Miler & 5k races start and finish at Fonta Flora’s charming Whippoorwill Farm in Nebo, NC and take runners on the beautiful trails of Lake James State Park. With stunning views and light rolling hills, both courses are perfect for either a trail beginner or a seasoned runner.
The 7 Miler starts at 9AM and the 5k starts at 9:15AM. Both courses start with a loop around the Fonta Flora field to spread out runners before entering the trail. Both races are chip timed and are rain or shine. There is a 2 hour course aid time limit.
Runners will receive a commemorative race t shirt and medal included in their registration. Enjoy a beer on us! A Fonta Flora beer is included in registration for those 21+ at the Orchard Bar. Must be able to provide a valid ID.

| Join us for Chamber Challenge training designed for ALL fitness levels with YMCA Personal Trainer Suzanne Ion beginning next Tuesday, March 19th!
These free sessions will be held Tuesdays at 5:30 PM through April 23rd at the Asheville Chamber (36 Montford Avenue). The last session will be a preview run/walk of the actual Chamber Challenge 5k course beginning at the Chamber, winding through historic Montford and finishing in the parking lot once again. These training sessions are open to anyone – whether you’ve registered to participate in the event or not! We recommend you bring your own water bottle. The doors to the Visitor Center will be open 5:00 – 5:30 PM on training days so you can come in to get water and/or use the restroom! Meet in the parking lot in front of the building. Thank you to our Training Partner – the YMCA of Western North Carolina!
Our trainer for the second consecutive year is Suzanne Ion, a sixth generation native of Hawaii who grew up on the island of Maui and in the north Georgia mountains. Whether this is your first 5k or your 500th, you’ll be in good hands with Suzanne. No stranger to health challenges, she lost over 70 lbs. after a debilitating illness with a commitment to interval cross training and a determination to teach again. Her motto is “Someday I will not be able to do this. Today is not that day.” She was the only girl on an all-boys soccer team, ran track in high school, and was a basketball cheerleader and member of the drill team/dance corps in high school and college. Suzanne has Three Star Elite Instructor status for spinning and has continued her fitness education with group exercise certifications through AFFA, ACE, TRX, Silver Sneakers, Mat Pilates, and Tabata Boot Camp. An active participant in 5k’s, 10k’s, half and full marathons, she achieved a Top 20 overall women’s finish at the Lake Tahoe marathon. Whether it’s scuba diving, kayaking, sup, hiking, or glacier climbs, Suzanne is always ready for a challenge. |
