Geared specifically towards the 5-12 year old crowd, you’ll learn about our city’s history and see the sights in true LaZoom style – complete with our famously outlandish tour guides, hilarious comedy skits, and all sorts of special appearances! Perfect for birthday parties or school field trips, it’s the best thing to do with your kids in Asheville. It’s a show on wheels!

The tour is 60 minutes long and includes no stops. The tour is hosted by a zany tour guide, and along the way other characters will hop on the bus and perform kid-centric sketches (Candy Pirate, Ninja, and a Levitator) The tour is not only fun – it’s educational! Kids and adults will learn new and interesting facts about Asheville along the way. There must be 1 adult for every 4 children. We do not allow any unaccompanied children. Adam Bigelow, avid organic gardener, will lead us as we immerse ourselves in the diversity of native plants. We will discuss how natives work to attract beneficial insects, beautify vegetable and flower gardens, and provide nutrition to the dinner plate.

Asheville’s longest running comedy open mic happening every Wednesday night. The show starts at 8:00, and there is no cover. Anyone wanting to perform can sign up starting at 7pm, and will get four minutes on stage. Local and not-so-local, professional and not-so-professional comics perform or just anyone wanting to get up in front of people and try to make them laugh. Always fun. Always free.

While in New York he has hosted the lauded Comedy at the Knitting Factory, been named one of Brooklyn’s 50 funniest people, and performed in sketches for Comedy Central and Amanda Seales’ popular Get Your Life web series. Clark was also a recurring character on FOX NFL Sunday’s pregame show and recorded stand-up on season 9 of Comedy Central’s “Feature” series.

Remarkably, the entire riveting narrative unfolds through the talents of just four actors, who collectively portray over 150 characters, masterfully switching roles with lightning speed. Brimming with clever references to Hitchcock’s filmography, wry British humor, and ingeniously crafted theatrical inventiveness, The 39 Steps promises a rollicking evening of entertainment that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats.

Indigo, a deep blue dye derived from the indigo plant (Indigofera), has a rich and complex history in North America. This workshop will incorporate the history of the indigo plant, how artists use it today, and how to grow and use indigo on a small scale. We will visit the field where a local farmer’s indigo plants are growing, harvest our own stalks, use them in a fresh leaf extraction method for dyeing a variety of materials, as well as see a demo of the multi-day traditional dyeing process.

This class includes a silk scarf, indigo supplies, and all the tools you’ll need to dye your scarf.
