Join a guided tour of Historic Oakdale Cemetery, Hendersonville’s municipal cemetery which whispers stories of the town’s early days. The famous Italian marble monument which inspired the title of Thomas Wolfe’s novel Look Homeward, Angel is in Oakdale, along with both marked and unmarked graves of historic figures. The heritage of the local African-American community is told in the Black section of the cemetery, while the designated Jewish cemetery reveals how the town grew to embrace ethnic and religious groups through the years. How and why the cemetery was created, names of those who helped build the town and where they were laid to rest, where the Sunshine Lady is buried, and more questions will be answered. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. in the cemetery, two miles west of downtown on U.S. 64 at Valley St. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited and reservations are required. Participants should wear a cloth face covering. Phone history walk leader Mary Jo Padgett at 828-545-3179 to make a reservation. Private tours for small groups can be arranged anytime.

Hailing from Inman SC, Scooter’s comedy is a mixture of pure silliness and a little filth. He believes laughter is the best medicine and should be administered as often as possible. There’s truly no-one in the world like the human teddy bear, SCOOTER FOWLER!

GRACE HAUTH
Grace Hauth is a comedian based in Charlotte, NC. She is a regular host and performer at The Comedy Zone-Charlotte. She has opened for Joe Zimmerman, Gina Brillon, and other nationally touring headliners.

JOY WILLS
Joy Wills is originally from Memphis, TN and performs all over the Southeast. She has opened for Jeff Dye, Nick Colletti and several other nationally touring headliners. Underneath her deadpan exterior you will find a charismatic wit and little to no muscle mass.

JAMES BURKS
When you mix goat farming, glassblowing, video game addiction, traveling glass buttplug salesman, alcoholic parents and multiple head injuries into the cake batter of life, out comes a delicious abomination: James Burks

This is our 2nd outside show on the patio at Guidon Brewing Company. Our first show filled up quickly, yet safely. Our 2nd show is likely to do the same. So come early, bring your friends and enjoy an incredible night of regional comedy!

Comedian, actor, and writer Josh Wolf has become one of the most sought after personalities in comedy today. From adding his quick witted commentary on comedy round tables, to becoming a New York Times Bestselling Author, writing on hit television shows, and headlining stand-up comedy tours across the nation, Wolf has proved time and time again he is one of the most dynamic and multi-faceted comedians in the entertainment business. Wolf is currently a regular round table guest and writer on the hit E! series “Chelsea Lately,” and recently appeared as a performer on the new E! series “After Lately.” In March 2013, Wolf will debut his latest book, “It Takes Balls: Dating Single Moms and Other Confessions from an Unprepared Single Dad” [Grand Central Publishing.]

Meander through this historic part of town encircling the old Railroad Depot. When the first steam locomotive arrived in Hendersonville on July 4, 1879, crammed with tourists and visitors from the low country of South Carolina, it was the beginning of an exciting era of big-band music, dancing, numerous inns and hotels, much real estate trading, and huge agricultural growth. Money was made and lost, famous musicians and sports figures came calling, delicious food was enjoyed at every inn and boarding house … Hendersonville was in its hey-day from that moment until the financial crash of 1929. This neighborhood boasted many businesses run by Black and white owners. Let’s hear about it. The walk will start at 10 a.m. at the front steps of City Hall, corner of Fifth Avenue E. and King St. . Due to COVID-19 restrictions, space is limited and reservations are required. Participants should wear a cloth face covering. Dude Perfect – Tyler Toney, Cody Jones, Garrett Hilbert, and twins Coby and Cory Cotton – are kicking off The Dude Perfect 2020 Tour at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

In their second live tour, the fans will experience the Dudes up close and personal when they bring the action right into the audience with crazy stunts, competitive battles, some of their most funny and embarrassing stories, outlandish stereotypes (maybe an appearance from the rage monster) and several of their most popular segments from their award winning Overtime series like Cool not Cool and Wheel Unfortunate with Ned Forrester.

Murphy Funkhouser One Woman Show: Acting Up, Making Scenes, Telling Stories.
Murphy Funkhouser Capps is a performance storyteller and author of two one woman plays Crazy Bag and Carry On. In the month of her 45th birthday, she invites audiences to come and celebrate this crazy journey called life and making it to the midpoint. Murphy’s performances have been hailed as hilarious, poignant and totally relatable.

Last year, our own Chris Joyell, Director of the Asheville Design Center guided us on a walking tour of downtown Asheville. This year, we’re touring Asheville on bikes. We’re teaming up with The Flying Bike Tours to take out a fleet of electric bikes. We will still pass through downtown, where Chris will share his extensive knowledge about Asheville’s urban core, including stories of how redlining has shaped our city and what the future could hold for Asheville. With the bikes, we will expand our range, pedaling through the River Arts District and the Southside, experiencing the highlights (and lowlights) of Asheville’s bike infrastructure. We will stop frequently to hear from Chris about the history of development in these areas and what the future might look like in these places.

The bike rental includes a helmet and the bikes have a basket with a waterproof cover to store your belongings while riding. We encourage folks to bring water and snacks, wear close-toed shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather (sunscreen, raincoat, sunglasses/hat etc.). We do recommend that folks have prior experience riding a bike, the transition from a normal bike to an electric one is easy, but they do require some knowledge of how to ride. If you’re not in professional biker shape, don’t worry! The electric bikes are much easier to ride than a normal bike. Uphills are a breeze.

All participants will be required to agree to our COVID-19 event guidelines listed below and again agree to comply with the policies on the day of the event in addition to signing our standard wavier.

For over 20 years, ‘America’s Funnyman’ Neil Hamburger has worked every imaginable stage, from New York’s Madison Square Garden and the UK’s Reading Festival, to a Hollywood cemetery, Tasmanian pubs, and an abandoned monkey cage in a decrepit Catskills zoo.

He has performed countless headlining American, Australian, British, and Canadian tours, as well as shows in Norway, New Zealand, Ireland, and the Bahamas. He has toured internationally as the cherry-picked opening act for Tenacious D and Faith No More.

Neil Hamburger was the subject of the critically acclaimed dramatic 2015 feature film Entertainment, co-starring John C. Reilly, Tye Sheridan, and Michael Cera. Neil’s many TV credits include Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Tom Green Live,and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Among his dozen album releases is Live at Third Man, produced by Jack White in Nashville; an earlier Hamburger effort was included in SPIN’s ‘40 Greatest Comedy Albums of All Time’. His latest LP, the chamber-pop epic Still Dwelling, features guest appearances from Jack Black and Mike Patton.
