Funds for Fields: Youth Wellness Initiative
Pisgah Health Foundation is raising funds for renovations to the Ecusta Field, which is currently used by area athletes and community members and is in dire need of upgrades. The upgraded facility will allow for the expansion of youth athletic programs as well as open the field up for more events and recreational activities for everyone in Transylvania County.
With your donations and support, you can positively impact the lives of young athletes now! Soccer and other sports are integral in youth development, fostering physical, mental, and emotional growth. Additionally, outdoor recreational facilities are vital to our community’s wellbeing, especially since the pandemic led to higher levels of anxiety, depression, and stress as a result of decreased physical activity.
Along with others in our community, we hope you will join us in raising funds to renovate this field for all to enjoy in Brevard.
We’ve heard your valuable feedback, and now you don’t have to hear us! Beginning May 4, 2021, the period between 8 and 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday morning of every month will be reserved for “Meditative Mornings,” a pause for quiet time in our gardens and on our trails. During this time, our working garden crew will abstain from using leaf blowers, mowers and other equipment so you can be sure to enjoy the sounds of birds and the wind in the trees.
Take advantage of half-price parking on the first Tuesday of every month and come out to the Arboretum to enjoy a Meditative Morning!
We gather on Tuesday evenings to share a dharma teaching, meditate for 20 minutes, followed by a group discussion. We come together to create a sangha community, and support each other as we deepen, reignite or begin our practice. We are diverse in age, experience and cultural backgrounds but share an interest in Buddhist teachings, specifically Thich Nhat Hanh, but draw from many wells. There is no charge as the dharma and practice should not have a price and be available to everyone. Sangha members are starting kirtan, a book club, and various musical and ceremonial gatherings.

There are few places in multisport where only one word can describe the essence of the place and the event. In the Southeast that word is Logan or more specifically Lake Logan. For those who raced here or have heard the stories, Logan means breathtaking beauty, a wet-suit legal swim in the heat of the summer, a rolling bike course that is flatter than people imagine in the mountains and a shaded run course along a scenic river.
The Lake Logan Half is a co-production with Glory Hound Events.

Join a certified forest therapy guide for a relaxing 2.5-hour stroll through the forest on the peaceful Arboretum grounds. Through a series of invitations, you’ll have the opportunity to be present in the moment, deepening your connection with nature and community, and enjoying the many gifts nature has to offer. Your guide will share mindfulness practices designed to connect you more deeply to your inner landscapes, as well as the world around you. Inspired by Shinrin-Yoku, the Japanese art of immersing oneself in a forest environment, a forest bathing walk invites you to spend time in nature in a way that invites healing for ourselves, our fraught ecosystems, and our community. It is true nature therapy!
- Special, discounted rate of $55/person (includes parking!)
- Occurs on select dates each month
- Max group size is 15 for a more intimate experience

SWIM
The 750-meter swim starts on the beach and then finishes at the transition line.
This is a time trial swim start, with participants going off every 2-3 seconds. This greatly improves swim safety, but it also allows participants to swim with family members or friends, something they’re not able to do many times with wave start races. The transition area is just a short run out of the water.
BIKE
The 22.3K bike course is challenging, but you will be rewarded with breathtaking views as it rolls through the countryside at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and finishes back at the same transition area.
RUN
The 5K run course starts at the transition area and is a steady, but reasonable, uphill climb that winds up a beautiful valley paralleling Bald Mountain Golf Course and ends with a gentle downhill cruise to a beach finish.
SETUP
All athletes up to the challenge with age and gender categories set in 5-year increments, as well as separate divisions for Athena, Clydesdale and Master Clydesdale.
Age and gender groups are assigned in age increments with the top three in each category receiving gold, silver and bronze medals.
